We're excited to announce a watch-along party for Evangelion 3.0+1.01 on our brand new official YouTube channel! We will be holding it Saturday, August 14th, 3pm EST.

We'll be watching the version on Amazon Prime, so be sure to sign up before watching long with us. Sync the Amazon Prime movie up with the time code in the livestream to watch along. This might be the first time some viewers will be watching the film, so no foreshadowing spoilers in the chat, please.

Hope I can drop in at one point, but, as luck would have it, going to be a busy Saturday for me. For example, of course my cell phone would pick this week to break and need replacing. :facepalm:

Anyways, sounds like a fun time!
I mean, predictability is the central attraction and the narrative hook that we've all come to expect from the Evangelion franchise. How come Anno can't realize this? Twice? - FreakyFilmFan4ever

I was lurking the stream for the first half hour or so, and it was clear from the chat that many people were reacting to things a couple of minutes ahead of where the time-code was indicating. I don't know if the Prime built-in watch-party feature would have been better for synching things up -- it couldn't have been worse.

I think I saw something like that on Prime. Can't hurt.

Yeah, it seems like YouTube steaming isn't quite as simultaneous/instant as I thought it was. It seems to work well enough for the Vtubers, but I guess the chat there to react to the Vtuber watching a film, not to have a lock-step conversation about the film itself. But nobody in the chat seemed to complain about any lag, so I'll still revisit the idea if we're on a platform that doesn't have a built-in group like Netflix.

We did get one guy later on in the chat who was definitely watching the first 45 minutes of the film while the timecode was indicating that we were nearing the third act of the film, but he showed up late and didn't sync his stream with the timecode anyway.

“Thrice Upon A Time” is a masterpiece and definitely the most uplifting finale for Evangelion. I love Hideaki Anno’s storytelling and genius.
The fate of destruction is also the joy of rebirth.

"Komm Susser Todd" is the most up-lifting song about depression"- Evangelion217
