EVA-R problem
First, i liked eva-r quite a bit.
second, i hated the whole "Rei thinking she is Shinji's mother" thing.
correct me if i'm wrong, but something like that cannot happen right. i was under the impression that eva-01 had yui's soul in it, and that Rei is just a clone physically. maybe i'm missing something

That is correct.
The problem I had with EVA-R was more fundamental. Streams of dialog like
A: ...
B: ...
A: ...
B: ...
etc. stopped me dead in my track (and this is from someone who could read NXE through to the end).

Or something.
i'd forgotten about that. it makes more sense to me now, but i still don't think it made that much sense and i just didn't like that part.
as far as the script-style of writing, i am fine with that, it makes it a faster read. though it is fun to immerse yourself in book-style writing as well.

It's this. It's pretty much a large-scale fanfiction that does away with 25 and 26 and adds new content, characters, and development, before eventually ending with Instrumentality. I thought it was an interesting read, but a lot of people here would disagree. It has its flaws, some glaring, but it was decent enough, IMO.

Thanks Omega.
From what I've read it sounds pretty good!

I felt that was one of the more illustrative utilities of EVA-R. I figured "A: ..." translated to "shot of A looking pensive".
What I didn't like was the part where the people would talk. And stuff happened. That got boring.

I've actually read all of EVA-R, but I couldn't get very far in NXE. One thing about EVA-R (the author came to ANF and answered to some of the criticism people were giving EVA-R) is that it was written during a time when very little outside source material was around and not much discussion had happened in the English speaking world. So you're going to get some incorrect assumptions made by the author.

I preferred the intense luggage packing action in NXE to the inferred helpless pauses in the EVA-R narration.
