Very nice trailer. It makes the movie look like it will be very fun. I'm particularly puzzled by this:



Is it just me or does Asuka look significantly younger here? What happened here? Not to mention it's clearly winter. Do they travel in time, to another dimension? Because it's winter it can't be a flashback... right?

Other things are more or less expected, like Shinji piloting (suck it lol!), though I didn't really expect a fight with Unit 01 VS Unit 13. Presumably it's piloted by Kaworu? Hmm. A lot of people assume he was absorbed into Unit 13 and not outright killed. Another possibility is that Unit 13 is piloted by Kaworu clones or dummy plugs, like the MP Evas in EoE. Buuuuut Kaworu mentions in 3.0 that a clone can't pilot Unit 13.

Not sure about how I feel on the "muffled sound" thing that these trailers have, but probably my fav thus far.

Also, apparently they just decided to add Mahiro Maeda as one of the film's directors on the trailer's staff listing (was only concept art director before)

Yeah, I really don't think that's Asuka, I think that's either Toji or Kensuke's kid from looking at her, and appears to be 8-10 years old so that checks out. In fact, I could see her being Toji/Hikari's child.

And huzzah, Sakura showed up again! Based on that shot, looking down on Toji I'm betting.

Add this to the shot with Unit 08 also mechanically repaired in the other trailer, and thus far it seems like Asuka and Mari will not pilot together at all, though I don't know what they have the matching plugsuits for, then. It seems like they are some sort of zero-G enviroment in the trailer. Maybe a space station? Lol.



This shot really gives a menacing aura to Unit 13. Velorex pointed out that this parallels Kaworu's pose in the moon scene in 2.0. Can someone please get a screencap?

I had a few questions about this scene in particular... How the hell did both Unit 01 and 13 break out from their respective ship cores?

Toji and Sakura both have sort of brown/hazel/dark green eyes and dark brown hair. How does that result into blue eyes and Shikinami's strawberry blonde hair?

If this is someone's child, the obvious candidate, uhhhhhhhh... is Asuka and Shinji's. Even has Asuka's whole embarrassed tsundere's nature to her in that shot. Or Asuka and Kensuke's! Not that I think they'll actually make a canon child for the pilots, for crying out loud. There's some other explanation. Maybe a clone.
