On the King Records site and Amazon Japan says the Shiro SAGISU's record will be released on March 17th, 2021. Evangelion Store still say "delivery scheduled: 2021" (お届け予定：2021年).

I'd already speculated about a possible surprise in the music in the music thread, since that's a different discussion altogether.

∆ Awesome. I won't listen to it till I have seen the film...but maybe I rip the mp3s for the Avant1 songs. Maybe. I fear seeing amy song titles I shouldn't.

Talking about actually seeing the film: Anytime I look up if the Demon Slayer bluray has come out and see it doesn't even have a release date, I worry more about Eva.
Seriously any schedule similar to 3.0 would make me so happy.

While I wouldn't rule it out, I also wouldn't bank on it. 3.0 coming out six months after the theatre release is the exception rather than the rule for Anime films. They're generally closer to 12 months.

A Western theatrical release will probably come first this time, maybe around summer.

Hopefully between the fact that the film had extra time to go over it again and that it got delayed so often, making the wait longer, it comes out sooner rather than later.

I'm definitely not watching it at a cinema, no matter how long it takes. Not even just because of Covid. I just prefer watching Eva at home.

What is the reason the blu-rays take so long? Max profit at cinemas?

H. Anno: I think that business schemes depending on packaging will face having a hard time to recoup their costs. I have read a lot about the three Evangelion movies, but concerning Blu-Ray sales, the second one had the highest. Of course, because it is Eva, it keeps selling, but the market itself has shrunk. When possible, distribution will be done through theaters, that’s how it will go for the time being.

I wait and see. Only when 3.0+1.0 is really out in Japans cinemas without any interruptions through COVID, then I can say it’s released for real. Then comes the wait for the first BD/DVDs.

January 8 was 3.333 and 3.0+1.0 is aimed to release in March 8. Isn’t that pattern anything obvious?

I think that's just an accident and not anything planned. Khara is just releasing the film the first day they can after the Lockdown has been lifted in enough key prefectures.
Like March 8 is a Monday making this the first & if you don't count the 4DX re-releases of the first three films last December this is the only Rebuild release date that doesn't fall on a Saturday.

September 1, 2007 (Eva 1.0), June 26, 2009 (Eva 2.0), November 17, 20212 (Eva 3.0), June 27, 2020 (Shin Eva Trial 1), January 8, 2021 (Eva 3.333), and January 23, 2021 (Shin Eva Trial 2) were all Saturdays.

Going with Monday March 8 and not even waiting the week until Saturday March 14 is a clear sign Khara don't want to wait anymore and just want to have the film out ASAP.

Demon Slayer had an incredible opening weekend even with theaters at half capacity, so fingers crossed for Shin Evangelion to pull off a similar performance - or perhaps even beat it!

Demon Slayer debuted the week they lifted the half capacity seating limit (or maybe theaters/TOHO lobbied it because they knew how massive it was going to be).

Realistically Shin Eva never had any chance of coming close to DS' box office result anyway.

March 8th is also the anniversary of Revival of Evangelion. It 'll be 23 years since then.

For 3.0+1.0 being over 2 1/2 hours long and Revial for Death(true)²+EoE was also over 2 1/2 long.
