Yeah. You read right. This is for everything that doesn't have anything to do with Eva.

Has there been anything in life that you regret doing? Any mistakes you wish you could undo but know you can’t?

Life is full of choices, and a lot of us had made some pretty dumb ones and now we live with the consequences, I learned that the hard way sometimes. I feel like I made mistakes more than a lot of people I know, though I’m not the only one.

Wether or not we try to justify our actions, the facts remain the same; all of us had made some pretty dumb mistakes, some more costly than others.

Too much. Too much to list. If I could, I would not mind a do-over of life after high school. I would never under any circumstances go back to high school, high school was awful. But knowing what I know now, where my life has headed, there are a lot of things that I would have done and done differently.

Right now, I think the thing that I regret most is not doing a podcast/interview with Zac Bertschy about his relationship with Evangelion and the End of Evangelion in particular. We've shot the shit on more than one occasion, but we never got around to really getting into the thick of things in a recorded format. Such a shame that he's gone.

Hmm, I feel like there's a certain character who mentioned this in a film somewhere :misato_service:

But absolutely: the human experience IMO implies life will include at least some regrets, even if you try to move past them and/or internalize things as a learning experience.

Academically in college as a young adult, my life panned out unexpectedly, but it is what it is. And when it comes to the Internet, well, I think everyone has their "dumb ass" moments, no? (I internally cringe when I see some of the super weeby shit my younger self wrote  ) but again—learning experience :ritsuko_mug:

Yep. I certainly do.

In fact, I think I do a lot of times, judging by some people’s perception of me. I guess it’s just something I have to live with.

She shoulda changed the carpet

But yea, I think we've all had a ton of screw ups and things we wish we could change. But in life all you can do is just keep moving forward and try to learn from your mistakes.

That being said, the thing I regret most in my life is having a 2 year period in which I wasn't talking to my best friend. I missed out on a lot of good times. But at the same time I grew a lot at that time so it wasn't a total loss :)

And I 100% agree with EvaMonkey; def would not redo high school.

And thanks to EVA, I've started like myself and that has made me very happy. Mr. Anno, please keep working on EVA a lot more.

I have mixed feelings about letting my career stall like it did. It's been almost 10 years since I've been on a large film set, mostly because my experiences on a project way back in 2011 left me feeling kinda jaded. I worked as a "Behind the Scenes" video producer for a local film being made, and had an awful time getting paid what I was promised for it. The film's producer was just awful. A lot of folks who had kicked old addictions and had been sober for over a year started taking them back up due to the amount of stress the producer would place on everybody. For a long time I thought it was just me, but I keep remembering what other people on set would tell me when I wasn't rolling cameras and it makes me feel better knowing that it wasn't all in my head and I ain't alone in all of that.

I started working regular jobs where I could to save up fo my own film equipment. I knew that I at least didn't want to depend on other people to have access to a camera and editing system. Unfortunately, I've spent such a long time away from the folks that I've collaborated with in the past that I don't know if I can reach out to them for a project. (2020 has been kind of the great equalizer, though, so a lot of them might be up for something nowadays.) I've been writing script after script, though, and I think I'm on to something that I can actually feasibly produce. I've recently been keeping tabs on a few other filmmakers in my area, so maybe I can put together a team to help me produce it. Honestly, the whole incident has inspired me to try and make a place where people can work free of the unnecessary hardships of the industry. (The MeToo movement really woke me up to a lot of what type of atmosphere I'm glad I ended up avoiding in Hollywood.) I want to create an environment where people can feel safe making whatever movie/short film/whatever that they want to make, I just don't know if I'm doing it right, and I don't know if I can make up for all the times spent alienating myself from other collaborators. I feel as though I almost need to start from scratch all over again, and I kinda hate it.

I do regret that after having lost a lot of weight and leading a very active lifestyle, I kinda refatted myself in the last few years due to lots of stress. But I lost weight once, I can do it again, and I will do it again!

Not many regrets in my life. There's not a single big mistake in it, just many little ones, that probably didn't even matter anyway.

I do sometimes still daydream about having a different high school life: What if I started playing bass guitar back then, could I have gotten in a band? What if I tried a little harder to connect with my colleagues?

But I think hard about it and the truth is even if I had the knowledge I have now not much would change. I still wouldn't get along with most of the other idiot teenagers, because honestly, we just didn't have that much in common. I wouldn't magically become more sociable, and my tiny number of friends wouldn't suddenly increase.
I'd just do what I did then, kind of float through everything. Maybe I'd get better grades, maybe.

As for career regrets, it's only barely begun, but in my short time in archaeology I have seriously been struck with a stupid amount of luck when it comes to that, and while lots of nonsense still does happen, I don't think any of my choices would change at all.

There seems to be a lot of childhood/high school regrets in this thread. I sympathize with what you're going through, but can you really regret a point in your life over which you could, at best, exercise very limited autonomy? How would you have gone about doing things differently? How does all of this make you feel now? Why are you doing now to cope with your feelings about those points in your life?

Thanks, man. I have still been doing very small projects where and there. I'm currently working on a micro documentary, video documenting the health of the person who contacted my for this doc. Projects like the "Live-Action Chill Hip Hop" video (link in the sig) were also stimulating. They definitely help, but I get anxiety sometimes over how things went and what I could have done differently. Your encouragement helps, though.

I, too, have (somehow) gained weight during quarantine. (My body doesn't usually physically allow me to overeat like it used to, so I'm not sure how this happened. Maybe it's the lack of social events keeping my more physically active?) I've been looking around for public pools I can swim at, since that sounds like the most fun/most physically involved form of exercise for me. But Covid is still a thing, so..... (:|

yeah, I started swimming as well, but then I stopped due to a cruciate rupture... I substituted it with going to the gym, but then I overworked myself once, had terrible definitely not normal pain and then I stopped for good, lmao. I need to get back into the groove...

Yeah,i know there's no point. But it really isn't my choice anymore. Everthing around me,in my life screams about the past.
Usually i play a lot of outdoor sports. Yeah, that helps a lot,but temporarily. I started swimming as well as you guys early this year, managed to finish the session just before the pandemic started. That was fun,not gonna lie. but still, not that it helped me completely. And now this pandemic. Staying at home all the time surely gives my brain the time of its life to rewind the memories. Even watching movies, series, anime reminds of everything. Lol,i even found some similarities of my past in evangelion the very first time i watched it.
Also can't even help myself by going to some counselor/psychiatrist,cause if you live in hell of a society of some south east asian country(not india),people will think that you're literally a mentally unstable crazy lunatic/psycho even if you talk to the counselor on phone. This will only worsen the matter.

I am not asking for help. I mean,i would be grateful if you try. It's just that, sharing with someone whom i can't see or don't know surely helps sometimes.

I regret being a total dumbass that I was during my time here. I just have a hard time getting along well with people here and in real life. like I’m just cursed with being this unlikable guy, even though I try to be nice with some people. I think there’s something plenty wrong with me, and I hate myself for it.

Come on, C.T. 1290, I'm sure you're not that bad. We've all made bad decisions which we regret immensely afterwards. The best thing to do is accept and learn from our mistakes, move on and attempt to be/do better from now on. Hating yourself won't help the problem nor will it help you.

As far as things like education and choices made during that time not really. I look back at the underconfident kid I was back then and maybe I could have done a few things better, maybe studied a bit harder and not been as afraid of being passionate about the things I liked. They're not really regrets though and in a way it all contributed to who I am today and where I am today, which is something I absolutely wouldn't change at all.

There is maybe one mistake that I wish I could erase from a couple of years ago, that might be the only thing.
