Between having their conspiracy revealed to the world and being publicly tried and convicted for their crimes on the one hand, and being defeated so clandestinely that nobody that isn't already aware of their conspiracy has the slightest idea that it exists (i.e. "dying" in complete obscurity), which do you guys think would Seele's duodecimvirate see as the worse form of defeat for them?

The latter, certainly. Making the public aware of Seele would provide an opportunity for the mind-virus to plant itself in new hosts, so in every sense that would be the better outcome. Even if Kiel and his buddies get executed, there would still be a chance for someone else to continue their work and deliver humanity to God's Kingdom.

"Mind-virus"? That's just a figurative way of referring to their ideology, right?

That reminds me of something that happens in the movie Steamboy, where towards the end the heroes tell the villain that they've beaten him when they stop his flying fortress thing he created, but the villain simply says that it doesn't matter if they beat him because now everyone has witnessed his creation, and so one day someone will likely attempt to recreate it with science because the idea of it is now out there.
