Maybe that thread should have it's own topic? Looking briefly over the first two pages there's a wealth of detail, that doesn't seem to be listed on the draft script page https://wiki.evageeks.org/Resources:End_of_Evangelion_Screenplays

-there are three versions of Shinji's masturbation ('electricity generation') - one where he exposes Asuka in the hospital, but then does it back in his room to the memory
-another where he runs to a toilet in the hospital ('emergency on-site electricity generation')
-the finished film version, but he locks the door to the room
-Shinji's 'terrible thing he did to Asuka' isn't the masturbation apparently, but telling her about Kaji's death, which is the spilt coffee pot in Misato's kitchen scene (partly in Death) and in EOE, which fully triggers her mental breakdown
-the scene with Kensuke and Toji saying goodbye to Shinji takes place at the school ruins on the basketball court at sunset, though appears to be a memory or imagined on Shinji's part as at the end he looks up and neither of them are there, the basketball bouncing away
-Asuka wakes up a first time in Unit 02, from the sedatives given to her in hospital
-the JSSDF soldiers about to execute Shinji are blown up in one by Misato with an RPG launcher
-there's some more details about why SEELE specifically use the JSSDF to attack NERV (technically a UN facility) rather than UN forces
-Unit 02 doesn't lift up the ship in the lake
-the MP Evas are described (production notes) as 'Eel Evas'
-they also have wings of light like Unit 01
-the MP Evas are delivered by transport planes that carry three Evas each while (not sure I understood this part correctly from Google translate) separate transports carry their lances/weapons
-Rei's immersion tank is described as different fromt he usual as a kind of ritual bath to cleanse impurities
-google translate 'Misato's massage process scene' gave me a laugh

Yes, it's quite shocking, isn't it? :D

Considering the writing process for Eva (as detailed on Evangelion Original), and how I previously mentioned the drafts are essentially leaks, I have to wonder if maybe they're simply early/earlier drafts, and these details presented on the guidebook are somewhere in the middle. Maybe they're the result of some brainstorming session. The fact that you have "hybrids" for the masturbation scene could be indicative of this - in the drafts, Shinji does everything in his room, presumably to a fantasy of his, and you have this note by Anno suggesting he hospital. You could say this is at one "extreme". Then you have Shinji at the hospital but returning to his room, remaining in the hospital but going to the toilet, and the final movie version, remaining in her hospital room, which is at another "extreme". Like they gravitated from one end to the other over production.

They also mention the MP Eva's devouring Eva-02 being way more rapey and ripping the armour off like they're clothes and exposing an Eva breast (?) and Asuka gripping her chest instead of her gut.

But I presume that between that and the hospital scene they felt that cruelly turning EoE into "Asuka Get's Repeatedly Sexually Assaulted: The Movie" was probably uncalled for and feels like a Tsurumaki call to curtail.

^^with Shinji's 'electricity generating' (the poor lad could probably supply all the power needed for Operation Yashima) your description of the writing process reminds me of the debates in 2.0, especially over 'who's riding in 02 during the falling attack against the 7th Angel' and during the Zeruel fight. Maybe not quite as neatly arranged on a spectrum, but simultaneously they have several competing ideas, rather than a draft 1 idea that gets changed to a draft 2 idea, like geological strata.

Yeah, there's very extensive differences with the Asuka vs MP Eva fight, Misato's uncovering the truth of the Human Instrumentality Project, SEELE's dialogue and large sections/most of Ep26", and comparisons of the alternate live action scene with it's script in the Red Box

Going throught he rest of the thread some other highlights:
-Eva 02's corpse/torso is lifted up along with 01 and the Eva series for the Impact Ritual
-the draft script page describes the MP Evas forming a 'Magic Square' but the story board shows something like a triangle shaped triangle-lattice
-when everyone gets tanged in the NERV hq command centre, all the LCL runs down and pools around the Magi computers, with smiling Reis standing on top
-in the shot where the black moon is above the atmosphere and then GNR rises up through it, the MP Evas where originally floating over her head in a halo like formation- this halo formation is still in the film, just in a different scene
-in the original version of Shinji-Asuka-Instrumentality-sex/on bed scene, they're wearing the clothes from the spilt coffee put/kitchen strangling scene, implying if this was a real world event it took place right after, which as some of the users say drastically recharacterises their relationship and Asuka's breakdown

-not removed from the film, but there are plenty of (equally interesting) directoral notes and descriptions in the story boards:
Eva 02s eyes when it's head is on the ground are specifically looking up at the MP Evas and 01 rising up into the sky in a cross shape
similary, Shinji floating in the LCL at the end, the Giant Rei Head's eyes are specifically focussed on him
in the train carriage where Asuka taunts him for jerking off to her on the side and leans over him, her breasts are described as larger than usual because this is Shinji's imagination
the 'Group Portrait photo' of all the gang is specifically said to be from ep 15 or around then, as the last happy time in Eva. Kensuke's model rifle is in the picture and out of frame (fromt he storyboard) Misato is pinching Kaji's hand on her butt
the Shinji choking Asuka and the original last line of I wouldn't let you kill me etc' was inspired by a real life event
When Gendo's on the ground armless, Yui's clothes change from an open necked shirt (student Yui) to a turtle neck (Gehirn Yui) under her lab coat

For the directorial/storyboards notes and dialogue changes, this is obvs just the tip of the iceberg from what's in the thread, especially for delving deeper into Shinji and Asuka's characterisation.

That was my initial reaction to the kitchen fight, I was like "is this a flashback? Oh no..."

Uhh...

It seems khara_inc2 has confirmed Last B (at least) was real after all, and by extension the whole draft.



This is pretty significant, not that I really doubted it.
