I can guarantee you that this is complete and utter nonsense and even his coverage of the non-canon merchandising nonsense that Anno himself has stated exists only to make money is innacurate and incomplete. Because I know most of these well enough I even know the specific dark corners of the Internet this guy read in order to produce this awful, awful video, and what he could have researched instead. Because this video is the definition of terrible clickbait.

And I will do all of that sometime later this weekend when I have the time. Just please, please don't take this video even remotely seriously.

It's so weird they'll take the time to dig deep on crappy image boards to make mostly incorrect garbage like this but then when they subbed a show like SSSS.Gridman they wouldn't even research the original series and then subtitle races and in universe terms incorrectly

I've just spent the past hour watching a YouTube video about the "37 evangelion timelines".
Of course it's a fan theory, but worth watching. The guy draws a map of what he believes is the Evangelion multiverse, including every comic book, every video game, every obscure product ad placement - you name it!
Hell, just watch it for the comedy value. It's hard not to cringe at all the Evangelion stuff some of us didn't know existed.
The theory is that everything is canon because Kaworu is a multiverse traveller (apparently, he found references to this in all Eva medias).

I'm torn between taking it as a joke and believing that Anno would make the answer that crazy.

it's a very INTERESTING and ENTERTAINING theory. and it's clearly based in humor and intended to be humorous. if you can sit through it, it's not a bad video, and the Kaworu thing is DEFINITELY something worth thinking about. Purely because of how lame it is that he still hasn't had success yet.

I respectfully disagree with everything you just said. There's enough idiots out there who take this shit at face value, either because they want it to be true or simply don't know any better and believe the one presenting it in the most accessible and confident manner; and even taking everything in it as irony, the video is still painful to watch for all sorts of reasons.

The video is kinda dumb, and the tone of it is kinda cringeworthy, but in the end it's harmless, imo.
