Jet alone cannot generate an ATF, so how was it supposed to defend itself against angel attacks?

I bet the people who made it didn't have any idea of the battle potential of the Angels.

It would have been funny if Jet Alone actually got to fight an angel such as Zeruel.

Cut to pieces....many many pieces. But I would imagine that they would go limited production, such as possibly 6 attacking at the same time.

Jet Alone wasn't the final production model, presumably. They mention at one point that they were looking into ways of simulating AT Fields. Not that they would have succeeded, but hey.

What I want to know is why they thought sending a weapon that's powered by a nuclear reactor against monsters that rend shit apart was a good idea.

The dummy system actually functions as an "artificial soul". So, in theory, Tokita's wish could have come true, if that kind of technology were implemented to give JA a functional faux-ATF-generating "core".

Then again, JA isn't made of PWN, so Tokita would also have to solve the problem of amplifying the faux-ATF, as well.

You mean PWM (Particle Wave Matter) right? An interesting notion, although the possibilty seems years down the road. At which point SEELE wanted all of humanity to be tang so it seems like a monumental waste of time.

Well, it seemed the ATF was a close guarded NERV secret that they might not have known about till late in the project. Jet Alone could very well have worked if they found a way around the ATF.

I don't think so. The dummy system appears to simply function as an artifical pilot. The Eva's themselves would probably still have to be imbued with an unfortunate widowee.

But doesn't the ATF come from the Evas residing soul and not the pilot's? I don't think they would have been able to emulate an AT Field, Jet Alone just sucked, it would have stood no chance against angels such as Zer, and would have been unable to even harm Tabris.

The Metabiology Dept and Tokyo-2 university didn't seem to be restricted access or anything. The basics are probably in open literature. That you need to apply them when fighting the angels may not be so apparent, though.

It is described in the CI as an "artificial soul", so it is at least possible that further development would have provided an artificial alternative for the ritualistic mother-sacrifice. There's no way to say for sure.

Jet Alone would have been cooler if its role was something besides "lol out of control walking nuke" and it looked like the Improved JA from the NGE2 game.

JA could have gone against an Angel and gotten its ass kicked or something, just make the point that only Evas can kill Angels clear in a cooler way.

Actually the fact that gendo bothered to have jetalone sabotaged may suggest that the end product of their ATF research may not have been as useless as everyone here thinks. If it really stood no chance of working there would be no need to sabotage it, just wait until they try to send it against an angel and it'll get its big metal ass kicked. How they would have gotten the end product of jetalone to stand a chance is a mystery, but the people at nerve that bothered to sabotage it at least seem to have considered jetalone a serious threat to their interests.

Problem with that is if the government thinks JA had a chance, they'd start getting funding that would have gone to Nerv.
