Re: Official "Hello/Goodbye" Thread!
Hi!
I've known Evangellion since I was 10, though back then, I didn't understand the complexities of it. Growing up, I've re-watched the series and this series has a special place in my heart. I've always gone to this website whenever I have questions about the show that have most likely been answered over ten years ago, so I decided to sign up. I'm interested in what I'll see here, and I'll probably use this website to pass time during English class because it's really lame and my teacher sucks. ☆・。゚・☆

The question at the registration really got me there...i tyied "shito""使徒""Shito"and failed. Finally i understood that i should use English.
The forum is much quieter than I imagined. I don't know when someone will reply to this post But I'm glad to meet everyone! If there are any interesting fan works, please @ me to go over!
btw,I am four years older than the EVA drivers.I think everyone here should be older than me.
My English level is not very good (I haven't taken the IELTS exam yet). If I have offended anyone, please forgive me! Thank you very much.

Welcome! Yes the forum has died down a bit, nut there's always more to talk about. Now Eva staff is doing a new Gundam show.
Hope you have fun on here!

Hi! I’m magi/nearsecondimpact (either will do!) i like evangelion a normal amount, i would like to think…
i first watched the show in one sitting on a long-haul flight (so i had little else to do, but it was also that good) and then it quickly became my main interest. ive seen it in entirety a few times since then and have amassed a small collection of discs and figures :]
i draw and write in my spare time, and have imagined up what you might consider fan works for the series, though i will say i feel the characters are maybe a Little reinterpreted in these daydreams of mine.
i would be very happy to be included in discussion about the series with people that like it as much as i do! as a warning i can be a little hard to understand so please don’t be afraid to ask for explanations of what i mean.
anyway thats me :] happy to be here and again hello!!!

Dunno if I'll post here regularly (I doubt it), but I figured I come out of my slumber to say something to make a mark.
Somehow despite everything, I'm getting a Master's Degree. Grades are great and things are going smooth. All goes well, I'll have it by the end of the year. I like to believe that my time being here has helped as a subconscious factor in being the person I am right now.
I've also been happier being an Evangelion fan in the last few years than I did when I actually used to post here regularly. Hopefully this will inspire someone on here to wave at me and say hello. It'd be nice to get in touch with any of you again.

P.S. TDSA is back???

Hi there,
I've decided to join because I'm in interested in graphic design and Evangelion happens to be a solid source of inspiration.
I can only assume this forum will have more than I could hope for in terms of studies and essays dissecting the art of Evangelion.
Thanks for having me and all the best!

Hi! Decided to make an account here to talk about what has probably become my favorite show of all time.
Watched it originally when i was like 13 and didn't really understand much of it, but after a second watch through i completely fell in love.
Watched through the show a couple more times and just need a place to talk about it because I'm still working on convincing my friends to watch it.

Re: Official "Hello/Goodbye" Thread!
not entirely sure why I made this account. posterity, I guess. didn't want to go through the hassle of asking for a username change on my old one, and my opinions on eva have evolved considerably since I last posted here, so I wouldn't really want to be associated with the six or seven posts I made on it anyway.
point being, I'm jimmy. you may remember me as jersey jimmy. don't expect me to post much here, if at all - I have enough trouble keeping up with forums as is, and I generally tend to disagree pretty strongly with most of the popular narratives here. maybe I'll feel motivated enough to offer some analysis once in a blue moon, but don't count on it.
also, I write asurei fanfics. sometimes. go read those.

Re: Official "Hello/Goodbye" Thread!
Hi everyone. I recently joined this site as I watched Eva for the first time last month. I fell in love with the show very quickly, and after finishing NGE and EoE, it's safe to say that it's my favourite show of all time. I went into it completely blind somehow, like I didn't even know it was a mech show lol. When Shinji is first brought to Nerv headquarters and unit 01's head is shown, I had no idea it had a full blown body underneath or that it was even a giant robot. All I knew was the name of the show, and how popular it was, simply due to being into anime since I was very young. I wasn't sure if there would be many people still talking about their love for the show as it's nearly 30 years ol, so I was very glad to find out about this forum. Nice to meet everybody

Hello! You can call me Maddie! I got into Evangelion last Spring all because I found the biology and appearance of the EVA Units to be cool and fascinating. And look where that got me lol. I watched for the EVAs, but stayed for the story. Unit 01 and 03 are my absolute favorite EVAs and you'll probably see me gush about them a lot.
I'm not sure how active I'll be here because I'm very shy. But I'll try my best to be! I have some photos I know people will enjoy. I just have to get the courage to post em.

Re: Official "Hello/Goodbye" Thread!
Hi folks,
My name is Banjo. I first discovered Eva via the SBS TV airing here in Australia in 1999 and instantly fell in love with it. I was in college at the time.
Eva was also my "gateway anime" (I had grown up with things like Robotech and Star Blazers and understood their origins, but "real" anime was limited in accessibility outside of very mainstream releases like Akira on VHS). Eva caused me to visit hobby shops to find Eva merch... and in the process I discovered not just the movies (i.e. EoE) but all the other amazing anime I'd never seen, rent-able on dodgy fifth generation VHS bootleg fansubs.
I had a huge Eva merch collection, and a huge obsession with the show, but after college various things in life changed. Eva was something I closely associated with that time in my life and certain family members (I still do), and I decided to literally "put it away". I put my collection in a closet, locked it away, and hadn't watched it again in decades.
During the pandemic, I got back into anime, but not back into Eva. I owned the Rebuilds but was hesitant to watch them since I had such strong feelings about the original show and the memories it brought.
In 2025, I finally decided to watch the whole Rebuild saga, however. My feelings on it are definitely very mixed, but watching it brought back all the love and obsession I had for the original - for those beloved characters - all over again. I dove back into the show and have set out to read/play all the books/comics/games that were untranslated or unfinished when I was an OG fan in the early 2000s (discovering that the White Paper RPG and Girlfriend of Steel game - two things I bought decades ago but could never understand - were finally translated was a dream come true!).
So now I am "back"... and it's fun, but a little overwhelming. I worry about becoming obsessed again (I genuinely was attempting to collect every piece of Eva merch back in 1999... an utterly laughable prospect now where Eva *everything* exists!) and sometimes feel like an alcoholic who has taken their first sip of booze after 25 years and immediately started chugging back bottles.
Also, my initial fandom was pre-internet, and by the time I was online I had moved away from Eva. Thus I've never been part of any Eva online communities or wider fandom, so though I knew this place (and others) existed, I have never posted here before. I am also possibly older than a lot of folks here, certainly than those who began with the Rebuilds or on Netflix via the new dub, so forgive me if I'm a bit more "crusty" and/or "out of touch" than you are. It's funny thinking that I was not too much older than Shinji when I first saw Eva... and now I am close to Gendo's age.
Anyway, here I am, back in this world again. Watching the show again, seeing these characters in games and manga... it feels like home.

Thanks so much!
Thanks. I enjoyed the first movie but didn't like the later ones much, though I loved certain "parts" of them (the aquarium visit, the village stuff in Thrice, and the final father-son confrontation)... everything else felt like a big flashy load of noise and CGI with little of the characters I loved. My own pet thing after watching them is that I wish 1-3 had just been remakes of the show with new art and minor changes (like maybe Anno getting to kill Toji), and Thrice had actually been a sequel to EoE (with some heavy reworking); I think it could have fit and given Anno the happier closure he wanted.

I worry that as an old dude, most folks probably loved Rebuild and I'm the grumpy old "not like Eva in my day".
Maybe there's a better place to post that, though, if it won't offend people to discuss it?

As the official old time grumpy old git, may I extend a word of welcome. As far as NTE opinions go, this is probably the best thread for the purpose currently. Or you could bump this one.

i first watched eva when i was like 13, (im 15 now) and i was completely shocked by how relatable the characters were and how gut-wrenching the plot was. i immediatey became obsessed and tried to consume every piece of eva media there was.
the rebuilds were kinda crazy, yo. no spoilers (i swr the movies' been out for like, years doe..), but the ending was SO unexpected..
i will NOT take Shinji Ikari slander
it's crazy how many people are still active on this site, but i aint really surprised considering 2000s stuff is trending now. it's so wild to see comments people made when i wasn't even born. damn the world really existed without me???
