Re: Official "Hello/Goodbye" Thread!
Hello,
This is my first time joining a forum. I'm not really into internet fandoms, but I'm deeply curious about the people here. I know I could get a feel for the members by reading through the posts, but could anyone save me the trouble by describing the typical members of this forum?

On the spectrum and slightly depressive; there is a strong like-calls-to-like in the self-selection for NGE fandom.

Thanks for the reply. I got that impression from reading old forum threads, but I’m still really curious about what kind of lives the people here pursue. I'm 16, almost 17, so I guess identity and other related things are still important to me. I'd like to know what the people you described usually do with their time and their lives, including their majors, jobs, social lives (lol), etc.
P.S. This isn't an attack on this fandom. I love NGE; I'm just curious.

Re: Official "Hello/Goodbye" Thread!
Hello!
I am a VeryConfusedDingus. The reason I have chosen that username is because I have never seen the original anime or fully watched any Evangelion-related media - which I plan to soon. So I am going into this 90% blind and confused. You're probably wondering why someone who has never watched the show before joined a forum dedicated to Evangelion die-hards
Well, I have subconsciously known about it most my life but never knew the name of the show until recently. When I was a kid, I remember seeing NGE games for the PS2 and DS. At conventions, I would see people cosplaying as the characters and figurines of the mechs. Sometimes when I am on YouTube or another web forum, occasionally I will see memes or references to the show. Now I am getting recommended Eva edits. It has followed me around for over a decade lingering in the background.
Grew up watching some anime when I was younger consisting mostly action-heavy shonens like Bleach. However, there wasn't much of a community for that kind of thing in my small-town. I became bored of the recurring filler format as the seasons went on so I lost interest altogether and haven't watched an anime in a good few years. Now that I have graduated from high school and have more free-time to devote random hobbies, I might as well check this off the bucket-list. My first mecha anime was the original Patlabor TV series, which is a lighthearted comedy set in futuristic Tokyo and protected by police robots called Labors. Not much else to it other than that (the films are a bit grittier, not my cup of tea personally). As a result, I began casually getting into Gundam then saw Evangelion mentioned while scrolling through a page for other similar shows. Looked familiar, and then I realized this was that anime I had been seeing for years without ever knowing the name.
So one domino fell to another, I asked my friends and they insisted on recommending it to me. It has a psychological horror-y twist they said? I recognize the characters and know a little about the plot, but they didn't want to give any major spoilers. The clips I have seen of Eva appear to have a very ethereal look and every scene looks like a painting. I did put off watching Evangelion for awhile because I don't like overtly depressing themes but curiosity is getting to me. According to my friend's words:
"Evangelion makes Fight Club look like Peppa Pig in comparison"
They didn't get it the first few times they watched it, so I've abandoned all expectations going in. How much of a shock am I in for with this?
I have also heard there is a lot of religious and Freudian symbolism, which, as a college social sciences student, piqued my interest further.
So yeah, I'll likely be lurking around the forum and occasionally post once I gain a better context of the show. I'm a big Battlecats fan and realized there was a collaboration with Evangelion back in 2018, hence why I have that as my profile picture avatar. Cheers and I look forward to discussing with you all.
(P.S. Please forgive me if the punctuation is poor, I am a dumb zoomer and typing this with a migraine :P)
EDIT: I have watched the first two episodes and I must say I am truly bamboozled and disturbed.

SPOILER: Show
The Congratulations scene for example, still no clue what it means but it was featured in a Count Dankula MadLads episode about that Japanese guy who got turned into the real-life Truman Show for a year and won + that Rei plushie in Pootis Engage.

Hi!
My name is Tomasfs0, and I have been an Eva fan since 2021. I actually don't remember why I started to watch Eva. Probably because I saw some clips of the trailers of 3.0+1.0 or became interested for having a Portuguese dub. I know for sure it was one of those "why not" things during lockdown. And I loved it, really, really much!
And I'm now here just to chat with people like me who loves as much as I do. And checking whats new every now and then.

Hello!
I just rewatched Neon Genesis Evangelion on Netflix, and it was quite an experience revisiting this iconic series. The animation and storytelling are still incredibly compelling, though my viewing experience was slightly marred by the fact that Netflix has edited out some scenes, which takes away from the full impact of the series. Despite this, I was drawn back into the complex characters and existential themes that Evangelion explores so well.
I’m also looking for a Discord server to discuss Evangelion. Are there any small servers where I could join in the conversation with fellow fans?

Hi there!
Hi! I am Dominicmgm, a 20 year old bloke from the UK who just got into Evangelion.
The show and EoE have been on my bucket list for a while, but at the beginning of June, I fell ill, so with the time I had been staying in bed drinking Lemsip, I decided to tackle it once and for all. As you can tell, I've enjoyed the show and look forward to talking about it! (I will tackle the Rebuilds someday.)

Hello again!
It has passed three years since the last time I posted here. For some reasons, I asked the board forum to ban me because I was aware that my behaviour was not good enough. Time passed by, and now I am a more mature person. I sincerely apologise for my childish attitude back then. Personal issues interfered with my old me. It will not happen again, and I will behave accordingly.
Thank you for letting me join this forum again!
Best wishes and hello to all!

Hi, Javi! I still remember you! You were a good contributor. No need to worry.
It's been three years already? Damn.

Just sit here and waste your precious time. When you want to do something, don't do it right away. Don't do it when you can. Read my posts instead. It's the only way to live a life without regrets.

Hello, BernardoCairo! I have fond memories of you as well. Yep, it is unbelievable how the time passes by*. I followed all the posts of this forum in the shadows. I am happy to be back again.
* If I'm not mistaken, the 30th anniversary of Evangelion will be in October of next year. I hope I can be present and accomplish something special.
Cheers!
