The technology for this has been around for a while, the same basic principle is being used (or rather, a lot of calculation is done to avoid it happening) during live concerts when there are areas where the sound from two speakers almost completely cancels itself out; the same is done here, but in a way that the sound is only audile in that small area. It is certainly impressive, but by nature of the technology will never replace headphones, as it requires a fixed installation and you to be in the area of effect, it doesn't work on the go
