Possibly bad news for Shin?

Postby FluffyBunny » Mon Feb 01, 2016 7:24 pm

This bit of news is going around on Korean sites. They say Tatsuo Sato tweeted the following (https://twitter.com/seitenhyohyo/status ... 7248177152):
そもそも現場をバラしてて劇場も何も無いじゃない。ゆっくり待てばいいと思うよ

Translation: "Since the work site(現場) is torn down, there can't be a movie(劇場, literally a theater) or anything can it? I think you'd better relax and wait."

And according to people who're posting the story, the "work site" supposedly means the production team -- which suggests no one is currently working on the 4th movie and they'd have to put together a new team later.

Sounds like bad news, but then again we know Mr. Anno is NOT working on Eva at the moment. Then perhaps it wouldn't be news at all. What do you guys think?

*edit*
I just realized the above quote doesn't reference Eva at all, but Mr. Sato was reacting to the fake trailer (continuing from an earlier tweet).

Wasn't there something recently about them moving office? This could be no more than that, perhaps?

Yes, read here. So it's just piling speculation on speculation...

Ah, thank you very much for that. "The work site being torn down" makes a lot more sense that way -- compared to the speculation I brought here.

Just sounds like any production work on Final - of which there undoubtably has been some even if it's merely design work - is on hold while Khara changes their location.

I'm not so worried about this.

We've been waiting long enough, another year makes no difference.

Would make sense with the recent recruitment drive they've had on their site and twitter. New facility, new/extra staff.
Someday I hope that we'll be reunited if that is what's destined to be. Perhaps we'll discover that elusive bible. And then we will finally be free!

Unaware if it's been said before (probably) but I'm sure Anno's work on Godzilla Resurgence is slowing down Final too.

I guess they're cleverly using the time while Anno's busy doing Godzilla for restructuring their company.

Hopefully we get Final at least by the 20 year anniversary of EoE.

Basically Khara just needs (I wish) to get on with it already.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's out summer 2017. That's the 20th anniversary of End and the 10th anniversary of 1.0.

Didn't they plan on having it all done by 2012 or something close to that originally? (lol)

Remember, as far as we've been told work has been done on Shin at the same time as Godzillia.

I spoke with a source very close to production at Khara.

Though Anno is working on Godzilla, production on the final Rebuild film is active and ongoing. The wheels are in fact turning.
I mean, predictability is the central attraction and the narrative hook that we've all come to expect from the Evangelion franchise. How come Anno can't realize this? Twice? - FreakyFilmFan4ever

^^The original plan for rebuild was for 1.0 out in 2007 then 2.0 out a year later in 2008. Which it was delayed till 2009.

The kicker to all of this is that 3.0 and 4.0(which it was called at the time) where going to be a double release being both 45 minutes long and being released in 2012 IIRC. We only of course got 3.0 in 2012, and now it looks like we are going towards a 4 year gap in between 3 and 3+1. This is of course if 3+1 comes out in 2017 because by November of this year 3.0 will be 4 years old.

This isn't to say some assume it will be out mid/late 2016 but then they also said that about 2015... (Winter of 2015 was a date for a while, so was Winter of 2014).

Edit- Ninja'd.

^ Lets hope we start seeing some of that "production" later this year.

Fingers crossed for next year at the very least.

Almost as bad as waiting for another A Song of Ice and Fire book.

Almost.

Well, there's always a chance something will pop up at this year's paper lantern festival. It's always neat to see something from Anno himself whether it's Eva-related or not.

I think the wait seems a lot worse because Khara is so quiet about their productions compared to US studios. Over here you get bombarded with status updates and the like for nearly two years before a movie comes out. Khara can go silent for ages and them boom, trailer. Or a mural on the front of a store.

The big difference with Khara's production is they aren't setting specific release dates until they're good and ready. Hollywood productions are all about marking out that weekend for their movie. Case in point, no one outside the inner circle knows what movie Pixar has planned for 2020 but they've already marked March 13th as the film's release date.

Khara just plays it by ear. I kinda love that.

As for Final, I won't make any assumptions on when it's coming out. For now, I'll take refuge in the fact that Anno's next movie WILL happen - in Japan at least - on July 29th this year.

I'm currently expecting the last film in late autumn 2017, five years on from Q. I hope that's realistic enough that I'm as likely to be pleasantly surprised by the eventual reality as otherwise.

Didn't Q just kinda drop out of nowhere? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Gives me hope for the future if true

^ Not really.

On New Years Day 2012, Khara posted a graphic of Asuka in her space suit - complete with cat ears - and released the film's title was 'You Can (Not) Redo.' I can't remember if it was there too but I think they're graphic also said something along the lines of "Coming out in 2012".
Then over the summer, in July I think, they had an event where they screened a preview that gave out the release date of November 17th.

It's not the Hollywood "Announce a release date three years out" but there is a little warm-up before the film gets released.

Once they announce what the subtitle of Final is - I'm really hoping for 'You Can (Not) Run Away." - we'll know the release of the film will be within the next 12 months.

The Cat helmeted Asuka even appeared before that in April, if I recall correctly. The advertising of the rebuilds was never bad, just very reserved compared to Hollywood movies.
