Akira Live action
Well this came out of nowhere.
Oh boy this isn't gonna go well, even the anime adaptation of akira couldn't get it right, what the hell makes you think a live action version is the way to go nolan.

The anime adaptation was going to have to be different anyway: it was competed before the manga was even halfway through, and the original writer was still involved. So it gets a pass.
In the very least, Nolan is attached to the project. I don't want it to be made, but if it's gonna get made, Nolan would be good to helm it.

Though, Gob still might look good in a cocktail dress.

We have to remember what's important in life: friends, waffles, and work. Or waffles, friends, and work. But work has to come in third.

Come read EVA Sessions! This place has it, too! There'll be pizza! Not really! There are other things, too! Not EVA Sessions! Did I mention the pizza!?

I'll be posting my full reaction to this on the "Whitewashing and diversity in Hollywood" thread.
I can tell you who they're going to cast in these obviously Japanese Roles.
Leo Dicaprio, Christian Bale, Tom Hardy or any of the billion+ other white people that already have a career instead of taking a chance on an unproven Japanese or Asian American Actor.

Well, Chris Nolan is at least a far better director than I would have expected from the series.
And honestly, just so long as they kept the character Akira a Japanese boy, technically it can still make sense while still being localized for a different audience.
I'm a bit more optimistic about this than any other news on this that I've heard in my entire life. However, I'm still not all that hopeful about it, mostly because this strikes me as being so surreal that I'm expecting at any moment that it will be debunked.

Something I don't like is internet rumors to get traffic especially relying on fans who will spam the internet with links. But this rumor wasn't denied was it? Maybe it's half life live action;0

I highly doubt Nolan will direct. I can see him producing, though.
Awesomely Shitty

-On EMF, as a thread becomes longer, the likelihood that fem-Kaworu will be mentioned increases exponentially.
-the only English language novel actually being developed in parallel to its Japanese version involving a pan-human Soviet in a galactic struggle to survive and to export the communist utopia/revolution to all the down trodden alien class and race- one of the premise being that Khrushchev remains and has abandoned Lysenko stupidity

Not really. Empire of the Sun, Little Women, Velvet Goldmine, Equilibrium, American Psycho, The Machinist.
Anyway, an Evangelion live action adaption has more chances instead of Akira.

Empire of the Sun, Little Ladies, American Psycho and The Machinist were pretty much mainstream back then, especially when you consider how box office was. Limited openings, no world tours for promotions, no big presence in Asia/China. Back then it was nothing like now. Few films could gross 500 million back then unless it had a huge budget, was sci-fi something and had a big marketing campaign. Aside all that you don't need a film to gross 1 billion in order to be mainstream.
I agree that Velvet Goldmine and Equilibrium are a pale comparison to all this, but they are mostly considered ''cult classics'' cause of the high VHS/DVD sales and views on TV.
