And then there's all his other work, which follows no such pattern.

Even in Eva the only significant examples are Rebirth and Q. The others are just new releases of old material (and of course Rebuild doesn't count).

Rebuild of Evangelion was the name of a documentary about remaking Eva as films which came on the 1.01/1.11 DVD; I'm not sure when it got adopted by fans for the films themselves.

"Rebuild of Evangelion" was the english title back in the October 2006 announcement for the new movies. It got relegated to the making-of features when the 1.01 DVD came out in 2008.

IIRC the name of the whole project was "Rebuild of Evangelion" and the movies themselves didn't get official names until later.

So, is this going to be a reboot, or do I need to brush up on the Godzilla canon? I've only seen one of the movies. And it was American.

^ The American one?! You should just brush up on your Godzilla canon regardless. The original 1954 film is the best monster movie ever made. Period. (And the original is usually the only movie any new Godzilla film would call back to in a way that assumed you've already watched it. If they reference a Godzilla/Toho kaiju film apart from the first one, they'll usually fill you in on the necessary details as the movie progresses.)

Ok... everything else is good and very similar to the 54 head... but that comical eye is really disturbing my trust in this... (:| :um: :uhh:

Old outfits for comparison purposes...

I'd recommend seeing the outfit in action before drawing personal conclusions

Aww hell yeah. This is looking like it's shaping up nicely as a counterpoint to Edwards' Godzilla. This and the new Gamera can't come soon enough as far as I'm concerned.

I thought Godzilla 2014 was pretty okay but I wish they'd released a film with a tone in line with the initial Oppenheimer trailer.
