So we're about to live the days of the Angel attacks?

As brought up on the front page, 2015 is the years in which the events of Evangelion happens. So I was thinking, I know I've seen a timeline put together somewhere. I like the idea of being able to fallow along and be like "Oh, this is the day Sachiel attacks". Or "Oh, today is operation Yashima." So what's the most "Official" timeline around? And does this sound fun to anyone else, or am I just being weird?

We do practically the same every year regardless with such practices as wishing the Eva characters happy birthdays. Never did anything like commemorate the dates of the Angel attacks though but there's really no way to pin those down exactly anyway. Pretty sure any timeline is filling in a lot of blanks with wishful thinking.

Checked some archival data. I was wrong-- Eva does indeed take place before September (no later than August, to be exact.)

A calendar shows up in Ep. 9 of NGE, and assuming that the calendar’s accurate, we can back track to some degree to the actual start date of the narrative events.

Not really, considering that there's some stretches of time before then during which we don't see any calendars, date markers, or get any exposition, and therefore have no idea of how much time is passing. That link about lunar cycles is interesting, though-- since it might actually let us peg down a few dates into the forum's timeline that we previously couldn't.

According to a Japanese Twitter friend: In their respective episodes, Sachiel attacked June 22nd 2015 and Shammy attacked July 13th 2015. Didn't yet ask him what the source was, but I'd imagine the Chronicle timeline? (Second time I mentioned that today, hah.)

It's been a while since I read the timeline in The Essential Evangelion Chronicle: Side A, so I grabbed the book off my shelf to take another look at it, and... unfortunately, starting from Rei's injury in the Unit-00 activation experiment all the remaining events are simply described as "2015". Only one of the 2015 events is given a more specific date: the day Asuka joins Shinji's class is marked as September 21st (and yes, you can see that date written on the chalkboard at the end of episode 8).

Um, this leads us to a little problem, though. In episode 9, we can see Friday the 11th being circled as the day to defeat Israfel. But the 11th only falls on a Friday during two months in 2015: September and December. Which would mean that they either defeated Israfel before Asuka joined the class, which we know is incorrect, or they defeated Israfel in December, which we also know is wrong because otherwise a huge chunk of the series would be taking place in 2016 instead of 2015. What the heck?!
