Well that's surely a trainwreck waiting to happen...

The correct answer would be a Ewen Mcgregor and Liam Neesan flick, reprising the master/student roles they had in phantom menace with metal swords instead of lightsabers.

Nope. I am too.

I'm just like...have they really run out of things to make movies about, they have to keep remaking things? At least remake something bad (or at least flawed) and make it good.

There can only be one. And that one was made already.
Among the people who use the Internet, many are obtuse. Because they are locked in their rooms, they hang on to that vision which is spreading across the world. But this does not go beyond mere ‘data’. Data without analysis [thinking], which makes you think that you know everything. This complacency is nothing but a trap. Moreover, the sense of values that counters this notion is paralyzed by it.

And so we arrive at demagogy. - Hideaki Anno, 1996

Highlander would be a really banal affair without all the weird chuckling, scenery chewing Scottish Egyptians and Kurganry.

If what they did with Robocop is any indication, this will be a soulless, workmanlike execution of a plot lacking any personality or flair, but I will still give it a chance.

This is exactly what they did with Dredd, but nobody saw it.

Point of order: Dredd is an adaptation of the source material, not a remake of the first film.

It's also one of the best movies of the year.

Highlander sucks.

Highlander has always sucked.

Highlander will always suck.

Tom Cruise is an entertaining action star.

If Tom Cruise is in a Highlander remake it means it will still suck.

Will suck a little less than all previous Highlander though.

The first Highlander had its own cheesy 80's action movie charm, I don't think it was all that good personally but it was fun to watch.

. . . and it had Clancy Brown before he voiced Lex Luthor.

There is potential in the PREMISE of Highlander (immortals in the modern age), but Highlander itself? Like Terminator it kind've had it's time, and now its just being milked for Nostalgia dollars.

Yeah, that's the thing. Its a cult movie. Maybe not necessarily GOOD per se but its a cult movie.

But yeah, like you said: the premise could be interesting but don't go ripping up another person's franchise to do something new. :irked:

Not true, see below

View Original PostGendo'sPapa wrote:Highlander has always sucked.

The first one was very good, the same goes for the TV series. The Directors Cut of the second film was so and so. The rest is garbage (i liked Endgame a little tho)

Maybe.

Probably.

I pretty much agree with that. What do you think about the TV series?

Only one movie got released after Endgame and it was on TV. It was planned as the first part of a new trilogy but the movie got many negative reviews so i think they scrapped that plan.

If we get another Highlander movie i hope we get Sean Connery on a role, even as a cameo. I know that this is a pipe dream since he stopped making movies since 2003 (?) but still......

I really like Highlander II. Not because of anything really interesting on a cinematic level, just because they went so out of left field. I appreciate when someone is given a task like writing a sequel to a closed story and they come around and realize they have nothing to lose and throw themselves at it.

Highlander II feels like that to me. It has that bad 80's toy commerical cartoon feeling, a kind of don't-give-a-fuck that transcends itself and transforms into brilliant satire of the creative process.

Didn't like the first one, so I'll probably skip out on this one unless it gets a 90%+ rating on RT or something. All of these Gen X morons need to get over their nostalgia though.
