Last day I get to spend in this house with my bed still here. I can still visit until July 31 but unless I want to use the couch, I can't spend the night anymore.

Sorry to hear that, FWIW i guess you can always try to celebrate it again a couple of days down the line (which i ended up doing since we couldn't screen Porco Rosso in my birthday due to rain) if you want to.

-------

Few things in life are as infuriating when the equipment you're meant to rely on gives you more problems and distractions instead.

SPOILER: Show
So, since around the time i was born the hallway PC (which is pretty much the PC i always use) used some old but very effective stereo system -speakers around half-meter tall i think- but unfortunately they seemed to have become just too old to function anymore by the time we got a new PC for the hall. And so we got some of those really shitty ten buck desktop speakers, which needless to say i didn't want to watch any new anime or films on being a huge cinephile. It was only around 6 months to a year later (vaguely tempered by watching animu in my sister's room, but having to do so in secret because princesses don't share things even if it causes no inconvenience, apparently) that i could buy a 2.1 system for myself which i have talked about in here before as well as some headphones.

So after around 2 years of frustration... I still can't quite do the one thing in the world that makes me happy.

The main problem is with the system's sub-woofer. The equipment is some Havit unknown model (if it says on the box or equipment i still haven't found it) and while i was a bit unsure about purchasing the new speakers from third world shantytown rather than purchasing online (Had my eye on the Harman-Kardon Soundsticks because of how many recommendations it has, but still pretty unsure) i just didn't want to wait anymore. This has become a decision that i somewhat regret as while the speakers offer a pretty solid and well-divided sound, they have a bit of a strange distortion in some pretty specific musics and the left speaker sounds a bit muddier than the right one -specially the tweeter- which is probably the result of a slight accidental cable-tugging. They are also not quite at ear's height nor with proper in-between space due to both a desktop specially designed for ergonomic and acoustic inconvenience and cables to the sub-woofer that are less than one metre in lenght.

Uhh, sorry. Anyways, sub-woofer... I watched the first two episodes of Bakemonogatari in my sister's pc sometime around February i think, and when i listened to the OP for the first time and felt the music in my body, not only i fell in love with the series but learned of how important a good audio system (and a good sub-woofer) can be. In fact that was one of the main experiences that made me decide to hold off on Bake or any other important new series (like Utena or Penguidrum...) until i got the whole audio thing sorted out. And in comparison when i played it with my equipment, the speakers were ok (maybe even great) but the subwoofer didn't even sound like it was there. Needless to say i was pretty dissapointed and somewhat upset to have spent almost a 100$ for that. While i still can't decide how much the potential mediocrity of the speaker is a factor (don't buy Chinese products :P) i can't deny that it's placement is less than ideal, less than 40 cm from me above knee-height and pointing almost directly at me, but with extremely short cables to both the pc and speakers and with less-than-ideal table and room, it's the best i could think of at the moment. Curiously, the bass (and to a lesser degree the sound in general) sounds much more vibrant and alive if i'm standing up at around 1,20 meters to the back and a bit to the left of where i'm sitting -close to the walls on the other end of the room- but that has only heightened my frustration as i can't really watch anything from that position. Just to clarify i don't care that much about the bass sound itself, but rather about the kinetic shake/punch of the waves. And it seems that even with substandard acoustic location accounted for the sub-woofer underperfoms a bit in that department.

On to the second complaint... Around half of March i traded my gaming-pc with my father in exchange for his rather humble Office-work capable computer, whose Windows 7 isn't even 64 bit. The reasons for the trade-off are a story for another post... Anyways, my father is an old-times technician with some uhhh, curious fixations/habits, most noticeable of which is a marked and long-standing enmity towards Windows. Maybe that's one of the reasons behind the extremely strange issue i've been having. I purchased some anime from a newly established distributor, Coalgirls, who were nice enought to give me digital copies in .mkv videos as well as the Blu-rays, but because of some strange reason when i play them on my PC, it won't play either the OP, the ED, or both. Neither VLC nor MPC even recognize the chapters or act as if it had them, and playing the same video with no alterations at all on my mother or sister's computer will show them just fine. What puppies have i kicked in my previous life? When i told someone about the problem and told them they were all .mkv when they asked me, they said it might not be dealing with the chapters correctly. How to solve that i have no idea, and while i am planning on buying a new hard drive with a new system, i'm afraid the issue will just follow me into the new system.

At first i tried to just live with it, but after only a couple of episodes my autism just gets too triggered at my stupid fucking pc shafting me out of the experience, and it just doesn't feel the same (right) to watch Bake with the ED cut out or Haruhi with the intro akwardly cutting to the episode. I should also probably add that this doesn't happen to all series and to the series that it does, it's on a constant basis (always without ED, for example) with no apparent logic to it beyond simple randomness.

So yeah, between a not-exactly-cheap audio system that so far turned out to be a mixed performance at best with dissapointment in the main area i wanted it for, and a computer whose various bugs and inexplicable issues have left me more stressed than anything, it seems my technology woes are not quite over. Worst part is that i have no idea of how to deal with those issues, or even if they can or will be solved...

EDIT: I said it played without the missing chapters issue on my mother and sister's PCs, but it seems i was mistaken. The error also happens with my sister's pc it seems. My mother's pc is a significantly newer computer our uncle gave her sometime in this year. Aside from that i have no idea what it has that mine and sis's pc doesn't.

Running is a love hate relationship, definitely when you have a tendency to throw up right after. *Raises Hand*.

Yea but the end of the year is always a bitch. Teachers to date have crammed everything in to those last weeks.

For fu*k sake I have a Hon Algebra II final in two weeks to the day and my teacher is still teaching us new stuff(and most of us have a very difficult time in his class).

I also just got done a history project that was literally like a science fair... for history.

Want to talk about losing friends?... I have gone to this school I am at right now for all of my life.

One to two weeks after the summer starts I move to Florida for my final two years of High School. So socially the only reason why I do good is because I am in a familiar environment with familiar people. But now I am in a completely new one and I know no one.

I'm really just trying to hang in there. Once I get moved down to Florida, because right now I live in New Jersey, I think I can get everything sorted out.

At least turning 17 yesterday I can get my Drivers License when I get down there.

Wow I am quite surprised I found someone on here with a similar circumstance than myself.

I think it kind of is, just not as big a gender identity as other ones (like cisgendered, transgendered, etc.). My understanding of it is that an individual at some points feels like and identifies as a girl, but most of the time identifies as a male (plumbing regardless).

I'm not a big fan of the Pixie Trix comics, but they have a character (Angel) that seems to be a pretty good example of it: a girl who identifies as a male, but on some days chooses to identify as a girl. The identity is not really mercurial, but presented as kind of who they are (they identify as male eighty percent of the time, and that's their preferred identity, but sometimes they just...feel like a girl. And identify as a girl...just not enough to say that that is their gender identity).

...FLUIDITY! IT'S FLUID!

^ that would be intersex, which is an actual gender, demigirl is some bullshit where "i feel 90% like a girl and 10% like nothing"
Hence why i said thats not an actual gender.

In my opinion, gender is to be determined on a scale, sometimes you're swinging more to the female side, and sometimes, you tend to swing to the male side.

I hate this whole idea that people feel they need to label their gender. It seems to be another sad manifestation to sustain the mythos that "everyone is special". In reality, I couldn't be bothered less, if it wouldn't do more harm than it helps. This hyper-fragmentation of genders won't solve any problems, as someone will always feel left out, spurning more and more non-sensical genders in the process (demi-girl, wtf?).
Ok, I'm going to stop now, before I enter full rant mode.

So, in Styria, where I was born and raised there were elections. It's a part of Austria. The far-right populistic party who nastily flames against foreigners while providing no solutions or goals in their politics tripled their presence in the Landtag (kind of the parliament), now coming in third place at roughly 28% of the votes. While the Landtag has no important competences, those elections are seen as trend indicators for bigger and more important elections.
Sad times for Austria.

Definitely. Gender and sexuality are both fluid, not fixed--It's all a spectrum. Don't worry so much about labeling either and simply live your life. :asuka_thumbsup:

To the person driving the white Nissan Murano that I encountered this afternoon:

Hello.

It would seem that you thought it would not be a problem at all to arbitrarily dart out in front of me from a side road with less than 3 car lengths of space between myself and the car in front of me, causing us to very nearly collide had it not been for my quick reflexes and great handling of the new car that I just got about a month ago.

Fortunately, I was able to evade your lack of good judgement and sound driving skills. But what would have happened had it not been myself? The area you decided to throw caution to the wind is less than a mile away from an elementary school, which had just dismissed for the afternoon. What if I had been a car or bus carrying school children instead and you had hit me while I was going the speed limit of 30 mph, which I was incidentally doing in this case?

My advice to you is to check yourself into a doctor's office as soon as possible, because unfortunately, you have made me so incensed that I am now completely out of character and currently concentrating all my mystical forces on giving you brain cancer.

Toodles, Twatwaffle!

Yours very sincerely,

Nacks
Among the people who use the Internet, many are obtuse. Because they are locked in their rooms, they hang on to that vision which is spreading across the world. But this does not go beyond mere ‘data’. Data without analysis [thinking], which makes you think that you know everything. This complacency is nothing but a trap. Moreover, the sense of values that counters this notion is paralyzed by it.

And so we arrive at demagogy. - Hideaki Anno, 1996

self-pitying rant no one cares about  SPOILER: Show
I did it. I finally found her. A girl who could not only look past my ass-ugly face and appreciate me the way I am, but even love me. Anyone else I've ever dated has been a long distance relationship, and I'd always make sure not to show my face until well into the relationship, if possible. To finally be able to hold, to kiss, to hug and see and touch someone I love was paradise. Of course, she lives with her mom. And her mom got a job offer half a fucking state away. She's not even going to attend the same university. She's not going to come home to see us; the new place will be home. Why is it that finding love is always so hard. She was polyamorous, and seeing two other people. Everyone else around us seems to be strictly interested in [s]mutual psychological torment[/s] monogamy, which is bullshit in which I'll have no part. Does anyone know how it fucking feels? To wish day and night you were asexual because the feeling if sexual attraction and lust to people who will either never want you or force you into the corrupt institution of self-denial, jealousy, self-hate, and dishonesty that is monogamy just for it to be any more than a one-night stand is constant torture to your psyche? To know what it's like to have hellish torment just for having a goddamned libido I never asked for? Or is it because of society's perversion of the concepts of loyalty and love into restrictive bullshit? Can't I just be able to act upon my desires with consenting individuals, and love and feel loved, without being forced into bondage? Is that so hard to find?

Sorry you have to have this happen: it really sucks, but it's not the end of things You might reconnect with this girl someday, or you might find someone else. I know it doesn't feel like that right now, but the odds are really in your favor on this.
