A new interpretation of angels

A new interpretation of angels

This is an idea I first came across on good ol' TVTropes regarding the possible identity and origin of the Angels. Basically, the idea is that the Angels don't just represent alternate evolutionary "timelines" for humanity--what we're seeing is each species's equivalent of an Eva unit.
To elaborate, the Eva units were made by humans and modeled after them, so it stands to reason that if the angels represent alternate-timeline human equivalents, then they too have done the same thing. So Gaghiel, for example, was the creation of an aquatic sapient species, Matariel was created by an insectoid species, and Arael was created by a birdlike species. In this scenario, Tabris (Kaworu) would be a representative of a species that can shapeshift and uses this technique instead of an Eva equivalent.

Your thoughts?
Life can seem a challenge. Life can seem impossible. It's never easy when so much is on the line.

Seems overly complicated and lacking any evidence.

If this theory did have any weight to it, it would add another layer to the show that I'm not sure I would want.
"The will to lose one's will?"
"Absolutely. The will to make oneself completely free. Will is the wrong word, because in the end you could call it despair. Because it really comes out of an absolute feeling of it's impossible to do these things, so I might as well just do anything. And out of this anything, one sees what happens."--Francis Bacon

This is directly contradicted by the show at various points (Sandalphon being the most obvious), as well as by the nature of the Evas themselves (i.e. clones of the Seeds). It really doesn't work.

Though Sandalphon’s arrival is a bit weird. Though they’re obviously not Eva-like clones, I do wonder who laid an egg in a volcano. (As bad ass as it sounds, natural birth via volcanic activity is unlikely for the Angels.)

It was almost certainly a matter of random chance. Adam created the Angels, and when he exploded they scattered all over the place (or even into orbit in a couple of cases). They then matured and chose forms suitable for their respective environments, and here we are.

I think the important distinction here, as noted by the CI, is that the Lilin was the product of millions of years of evolution that sprouted other beings (like dolphins), whereas the Angels can simply choose their form, at least to some degree.

You're right. I just saw the theory and wondered what the forum thought of it. Nothing wrong with that, is there?

Of course not, I proposed some pretty out there theories myself, I was just mocking the nature of us geeks to overanalyse and overthink sometimes. Didn't mean to attack you.

that would imply there's some tiny little "angels" sitting inside the core piloting the big angels. But as long as you're talking about waffy ideas with no point, then sure, its interesting. I mean, if angels were just human sized other versions of humans, then whence came the giant bio-robots in the first place?
God, Apparently you all have been discussing Q since November. Catching up on the discussion is harrowing.

Presumably, they had their own "Eva" programs.

I actually really like this idea. Too bad it doesn't fit with the show's mythology.
Awesomely Shitty
-"That purace has more badassu maddafaakas zan supermax spaceland."
-On EMF, as a thread becomes longer, the likelihood that fem-Kaworu will be mentioned increases exponentially.
-the only English language novel actually being developed in parallel to its Japanese version involving a pan-human Soviet in a galactic struggle to survive and to export the communist utopia/revolution to all the down trodden alien class and race- one of the premise being that Khrushchev remains and has abandoned Lysenko stupidity
