I kid you not. It's coming out on Blu-Ray too.

I'm just as befuddled as any of you are.

Oh, man. I'm tempted to purchase this. The old ADV DVDs were pretty washed out and the new Nadia remasters are supposed to be excellent.

SHWIIIIIING!
Among the people who use the Internet, many are obtuse. Because they are locked in their rooms, they hang on to that vision which is spreading across the world. But this does not go beyond mere ‘data’. Data without analysis [thinking], which makes you think that you know everything. This complacency is nothing but a trap. Moreover, the sense of values that counters this notion is paralyzed by it.

And so we arrive at demagogy. - Hideaki Anno, 1996

Also, I guess this means that Sentai/ADV (it's basically the same staff) and Gainax may have patched things up a bit. Two years ago ADV's remnants were suing Gainax over breach of contract:

Where's the surprise here? Sentai is holding fast to the few valuable licenses left over from their ADV days, 'cause they sure ain't getting any new ones any time soon.

Nadia Blu-Ray is exciting though. Maybe they could do the kindness of license-rescuing Gunbuster as well?

Damnit, now I need to buy Nadia.

Though on the other hand getting physical collection of Nadia makes me happy. Now where is my Gunbuster BD?

Well, you can get part of Gunbuster on BD in the form of the film.

I may be wrong, but I believe Gainax doesn't own the rights to Nadia. I think they belong to Toho and maybe NHK. I do remember reading somewhere that Gainax got screwed in the rights deal and that production of the show put the studio in the red.

yeah, i think this is right also.

remember, gainax didn't get a dime from nadia's back end.

Well, I pre-ordered my copy from Amazon.
Actually I never watched Nadia before... so I checked out a few episodes on
the youtube and I liked it enough to buy it.
Can't wait!

It's extremely good considering it's Anno's first foray into directing a full length tv anime, but unfortunately he got screwed by the network into doing 13 more eps. than was originally asked for, so the quality of the infamous Island/Africa eps. are justifiably bad enough to warrant expulsion from the series proper.

Gotta love that "from the creator of Neon Genesis Evangelion..." cover. Those kind of texts almost always smell fishy.

Only 5 discs?
Japanese release was 7 discs and had 6 episodes per disc for the first 6 and 3 episodes on the 7th.

A comparison will be required since the bitrate will have to be lower for this release.
