Does this mean he is working now on a Yamato... Something?
I've never seen that one, so maybe I'll check it out later.

Everything Matsumoto has written is outstanding, Yamato, Captain Harlock and in opinion especially Galaxy Train 999 with its incredible Movie 1 ending. They definitely have aged however, lots of filler and very formulaic in parts.
One aspect of it that probably fits well with Anno's writing tendencies is that Matsumoto's characters are all deeply flawed and capable of both good and bad.
