Dunno why that would have any impact. Hasn't bothered me, in fact I'm glad that my favorite entry in the series (which I say still only 15 hours into it, but they've been more fun so far than the entire 150 I played just trying to get through P3FES once) is doing so well for itself.

So ... many ... games!
Cities: Skylines -- I bought this game because YouTuber jacksepticeye made it look so good. (That's unfair; the game made itself look good, jacksepticeye just showed me it up close.) That makes two games now I've bought because I watched him play it (the other being Subnautica).
This thing is fantastic. I was never good at SimCity (largely because I played it when I was very young and didn't even understand the concept of zoning), but Cities: Skylines is very newb-friendly with an intelligently designed help system and an upgrade curve that gradually unlocks new features as your city grows so you can learn them at a good pace instead of getting overwhelmed by your options. My experience with the game thus far has been one of steady improvement and understanding with minimal frustration.
War for the Overworld -- This past Summer Steam Sale, this title jumped out at me from the crowd, its name alone sparking a little corner of my brain that assumed it was a spiritual successor to Dungeon Keeper -- and to call it that is an understatement: The two games are essentially identical except for an asset swap, right down to the ability to possess individual units and play as them in first person. They even got the original voice actor for the narrator to play the narrator. And he makes the same kinds of jokes and even does that whole "A (whatever) has entered your dungeon. ...A (whatever) has entered your dungeon, blah blah explanation". How much more "true spiritual successor" can you get?
Final Fantasy VII -- After about two years of leaving this untouched, I've picked it back up in a big way. I've beaten this game at least twice in my life, but these playthroughs come so few and far between that a lot of the game is fresh again when I come back to it. I started this playthrough way back in 2007, and there's no time like now to resume it and finish it.
Claims that the game has "aged poorly" confuse me. Every time I pick it back up again, I'm surprised that it has aged so well. Its presentation is extremely low-fi by modern standards yet still communicates a tremendous sense of atmosphere that many of its modern technological betters (including its own series successors) lack.
Persona 4 -- I've chipped away at this game for the past two summers. The sheer length of time it's taking me to finish it (in calendar time; I'm only 16 hours into the game) is not because I don't like the game; rather, I like the game so much that I want everything to be just so when I play it and that restricts when I can play it. But oh, is it worth it -- this game is a blast and affects me like so few, and placing those self-imposed restrictions allows every session to be something magical.
This year I did something new to both hopefully get me through the game faster and assuage my worst habits with it: I've begun habitually using a Code Breaker to enable a day-repeater function, severely cutting down on my choice anxiety that was inhibiting my enjoyment of the game. In fact, thanks to the repeater function, I've been able to explore choices I would not have otherwise because of the opportunity cost, such as the whole fishing side of the game.
Fire Emblem: Awakening -- Though I'm close to the end and have been for quite a while, this game is taking me forever to beat because I'm horribly indecisive about how I want to pair up all the characters. I spend considerable lengths of time planning out potential pairings in what are now two concurrent playthroughs in a text file. I keep running into the same family of problems: "Oh but if I pair A with B, who do I pair with C? And while I'd rather pair D with E, if I pair E with anyone other than F then G won't have the hair color I prefer!" This game brings out some unhealthy habits in me. Most of my playtime now is just relationship-building to keep exploring prospects for the different characters.

Beat MGS4. Story was great. The gameplay was okay, but felt like a less polished version of 3. The references to previous games, especially during the final boss, were a great addition.

Pair yourself with Chrom. All considerations secondary. Crew expendable.

I'm currently almost finished with Persona 4 Golden, or at least I think I am (we caught the culprit, but I smell a big plot twist coming up!)
I recently resumed playing Saints' Row 4 with my Miho Nishizumi character (because even aliens need Senshado), and I'm actually going to try to beat the game this time instead of just goofing off! I'm really hoping Zinyak's plans get a lot more exposition, because right now they make zero sense.
One other thing that bugs me: I know the simulation of Steelport is supposed to look oppressive, but was it really necessary to cover the atmosphere with an ugly brownish-yellow haze 24/7? Ugh.

SPOILER: Show
Why would you go to the trouble of conquering a planet loaded with resources, then turn around and blow it the fuck up just because one human escaped your simulation!?

New Vegas is both fun and intensely frustrating in how difficult it is and how complex the interactions between all the quests are. I'm still fairly low level but it's annoying how slow my progress has been because I have to read up and check how my quests affect each other before doing something I might regret.

That's kinda missing the point, Trajan. Just do whatever seems like a good idea at the time and it will all work itself out.

Same here, but I have no regrets.
Killed House and eliminated all three of his families. Upgraded Securitron friends are neato.
Killed Caesar and all his officers & guards. Nuked the road behind them when the rest fled.
Told NCR to fuck off as well, and nuked the long 15 to make sure it stayed that way.
Powder Gangers, Khans, Fiends, Scorpions, Black Mountain Mutants and every other bandit or beastie I met all had to go.
Everybody else... welcome to the Kingdom of Greater New Vegas. Obey the laws and pay your taxes or I'll melt your face with an orbital laser.

Unless you do something stupid like going to Caesar's fort after you get the platinum chip and he confiscates it from you and you're forced to do the Legion questline unless you go to the weather station and blast your way out of there, making you Legion villified which means they send assassins after you, and you're nowhere near a high enough level to take them on so they keep on killing you and you realize you're going to have to go back into the fort to reactivate the securitrons.
I also didn't realize how carrying out Cass's revenge quest would fuck up my relations with the NCR. It's a good thing I had previous saves to go back too.
I like the fact that the game gives you so many choices, but it gets really complicated in how you can fuck up your playthrough if you do something stupid.

Nah... doing something stupid and having to deal with the consequences should be half the fun.
I'm pretty sure it's possible to just lie your way out of Caesar's demands with the securitrons, and you can do Cass's quest nonviolently by instead finding evidence of criminality and turning them in to the NCR to deal with. Need to have the (in-game) skills to do that though.
Probably the real problem here is that you somehow progressed pretty late into the game plot at a much lower level than you're expected to be at. Did you just run straight to Vegas and skip all the adventuring opportunities along the long southern loop?

I just beat Wolfenstein: The New Order. Rarely does a game manage to transcend both its series and its genre to become a true work of art. This is one of those games. What starts off looking like just another gorefest Wolfenstein FPS quickly turns into a deeply personal and tear-jerking journey that takes you on a grand tour of Nazi-occupied earth and even to the surface of the moon itself, and introduces you to well-written characters that seem like real people. Yes, in a FPS of all things! More than once I actually shed tears when certain characters died. And man, did they ever nail the game's atmosphere! They actually got classic '50s and '60s music from famous bands like The Beatles re-recorded in German to drive home the fact that the Nazis have conquered earth. Bethesda decided to eliminate multiplayer in favor of telling a better story, and they hit it out of the park here. I hold this game on the same level as Spec Ops: The Line.

Metal Gear Rising is another great game ruined by having a horribly broken final boss. Like, did they even playtest this part?
