If it's not in Japanese with subtitles, I'll have to rip some faces. But yay, Evangelion!

Don't see the point in watching something I already own and so late at night, but this is pretty neat.

That's awesome. I wonder if they'll follow suit with 2.22 and 3.33 (when it gets released here).
Please just call me Ian, "TheFrisky" is more of a title.

It will most likely be dubbed, unfortunately. It's what most of Toonami's watchers want. Has Toonami ever broadcast subbed anime?

Hey, at least your Voice Actors are decent, have ever heard how dubbed animes in general sounds in French?! :cringe:

Yes! I've always wanted to watch a movie I own on Bluray with terrible Texas voice "actors" & commercial breaks every 5 minutes!

Well if one person watches the dub, buys the DVD and discovers the original version, then this is still a Good Thing.

This is pretty cool news. It's been what 7-8 years since any evangelion content's been aired on Cartoon Network?

It might end up bolstering the fandom in a similar manner to when the series was aired on Adult Swim.....though probably not as significantly as this is a one-off movie airing.

I wonder how severe it'll be edited?
Among the people who use the Internet, many are obtuse. Because they are locked in their rooms, they hang on to that vision which is spreading across the world. But this does not go beyond mere ‘data’. Data without analysis [thinking], which makes you think that you know everything. This complacency is nothing but a trap. Moreover, the sense of values that counters this notion is paralyzed by it.

And so we arrive at demagogy. - Hideaki Anno, 1996

Exactly-- I'm not in any hurry to watch 1.11 again, especially edited for content and with commercials, but airing on a basic cable network at 1 AM is about the best mainstream exposure as it's possible for something like this movie to get this side of an Aqua Teen-esque bomb threat.

Not sure if I'll watch it (want to keep my virgin ears) but this is pretty freaking cool. I'm curious how much of this is Funi's doing and how much is CN's, though. Is Funi trying to capitalize on the upcoming 3.0 hype and licensing it to AS on the cheap or is CN upping their investment in Toonami? Probably a little bit of both I suppose.

This is rad but whats going to come out of it is

SPOILER: Show
A. New eva fans

B. More ignorant jack-offs complaining that "Shinji is a pussy"

& C. If it does well, 2.22 being aired

I'm all for Eva back on TV, but I don't have a need to watch it cause I obviously own it all. but the more Eva geeks the better

...Yeah, I won't be tuning in after all. Call me intolerant, but I can't stand hearing this in English when I've heard it in Japanese.

Not like the sequel theory isn't relatively popular to start with.

Doesn't change the fact that it's really stupid.

Eugh, I do not like B. "A" would normally be fine, except then we consider that new fans are the ones that weren't aware of it *before* it became that widespread (not to sound like a hipster or anything - the kind of fan we'll get out of the Toonami release will be different than a fan produced by other means). Probably like someone who only watches mainstream anime, and then Evangelion will suddenly be "cool". Feh, kimochi warui.
