How long are you going to wait for 3.0?

Postby Grimmjow » Tue Jan 01, 2013 5:17 pm

Just out of curiosity, when do you guys plan to take the Q tang plunge and watch the movie?

Will you wait until:
a complete camrip is released
the Japanese DVD is released and it is uploaded
until the Funi DVD comes out.

Note: I'm not asking for any links. Don't break the rules.

I'm just curious as to how long you all plan to wait to see Q.

As for myself, I'll probably break down in a storm of tears and Doritos as I partake of a horrific camrip.

Pretty much what I think too. I suffered through one camrip with Eva 2.0, I can do it again with Eva 3.0.

It's only a matter of time.

DVD? What is this 1996?

And where's the option to buy?

I'm preordering the Japanese BD from Amazon as soon as the page goes up.

Not everyone has a PS3 or regular blue ray player.

I'll wait until Final comes out as home video in this country; and only then if it wraps the series up in a way that excuses what's become of it since the end of Operation Yashima in the new continuity. I likened it to bad fan-fic nearly five years ago; and I'm still waiting to be proven wrong.

Well it's your loss. PS3 is useless for media but BD players are piss-cheap and BD drives for computers even more so.

The format has been around for more than half a decade. Keep up with the times.

Well, when it comes to animation the jump in quality from DVD to BD is not as significant as it is for live action footage, at least to me.

Come on,
If I can camrip because my computer can only load so many videos and replay them so many times untill my graphics card acts up. Because this is a laptop and it was made almost 11 years ago so if I can download it on PS3 I will take that chance.

Theater camrips are distasteful. I'm waiting until it gets ripped from the Japanese DVD, subbed, and posted.

I would like to go for broke and wait for a DVD/BD rip, but I'll probably end up caving once the camrip comes out. I'll probably end up checking the first seven minutes of whatever camrip comes out. I'll consider watching the whole thing if the quality isn't too horrendous.

No wait. I'm watching all of the shitty camripped clips as they come out.

Like TMB, I'll be preordering the Japanese BD as soon as it's available.

Nuclear Lunchbox: Distasteful, yes, but voyeuristically enticing. :liplick:

A.T. Fish: They frequently take advantage of that additional resolution to put more actual detail on the screen. Some of it could, hypothetically, be of narrative importance, as well. The danger of this rises as time goes by, and creators take it more and more for granted that their audience will have HD viewing equipment at home.

If a camrip finally appears I will definitely watch it. The only camrip I ever bothered watching was that of 2.0 and even in that format it was one of the most visually amazing things I've ever seen (watched Avatar in 3d after that it didn't quite match up to it, lol).

Interesting. Is that the case with the Rebuild BDs? Do they have extra details, even if just aesthetical ones?

For the last two, I went with the first DVD fansubs, and checked out parts of the 2.0 camrips. This time, though, I'm in it for the long haul. Legit Funi theatrical presentation or BD, no downloads of any sort. It'll be tough, but school's going to be keeping me so busy over the next several years that I doubt I'll care.

And besides, there's always the Funi release of Hosoda's Wolf Children and the end of Gundam Unicorn to tide me over. :)

There are things you won't be able to see at DVD resolution, yes. For one example in the "aesthetic" arena off the top of my head, the Seele logos on Lilith's eye bolts are only discernible in HD.

If the Japanese BD has english subtitles, I might consider getting it (though the odds of that happening are not that good). Otherwise, I have to wait for the US BD.
