Spike Spiegel: Look at my eyes, Faye. One of them is a fake because I lost it in an accident. Since then, I've been seeing the past in one eye and the present in the other. So, I thought I could only see patches of reality, never the whole picture. I felt like I was watching a dream I could never wake up from. Before I knew it, the dream was over.

I laughed out loud at the scene that starts around 3:28 minutes into the first video you linked, also the running theme of monty python throughout. I didn't find the south park scenes funny, it just didn't work at all (they were better than the original dub though).

I watched the first one.

The second one wasn't as funny to me.

This is the funniest thing I've seen in weeks. Including the "Shinji rant." I just about pissed my pants. And I've only watched the first one so far. :P :P :P :P

EDIT: what the fuck is with part 3? it goes from really cool dubs of movies illustrated with eva, to some stupid kids voices making stuff up. First two were well done.
God, Apparently you all have been discussing Q since November. Catching up on the discussion is harrowing.

So, basically, this person just ripped off AMV Hell the Movie, and even took a lot of the same jokes. How pathetic.

I do not approve.

Hardly the only instance, though.

Heck, there's even a Halo version of AMV Hell now. It stands on its own pretty well, but all the same...

So nothing funny can be original unless stamped AMV Hell?

Weak, just plain weak.

See that? That's what people who make stuff like this are doing to creative integrity.

I'm well aware that there's not really such a thing as a new idea. But there's a difference between (rehashing an old idea) and (copying something and taking credit for it).

Is AMV Hell the first satirical anime dubbing? My guess is probably not. It is probably the first moderately successful one, though.

Feel free to expose my lack of knowledge, though.

No, it is far from the first. But it was the first to use short segment satirizations within the body of a larger whole. In the case of AMV Hell The Movie, it used the format of channel flipping between segments, which this Evangelion Outtakes has blantantly taken from. Plus several of the satirizations are just carbon copied from AMV Hell The Movie, but Evangelion flavored this time around. Not good form in my opinion. If you're going to copy someone else's format, you could at least make the effort to come up with your own jokes.
