[SPOILERS] "Curse of Eva"
Notice I put the spoiler tag in this time. I'm not going through what happened with the last movie...
I keep hearing about this curse. Are the pilots all stuck in 14 year old bodies? Or are they literally immortal now, in the sense that they will not die of disease or old age?

"Crapsack worlds and anti heroes have their place. Sometimes, they are very necessary. But an endless diet of dreary cyberpunk and dark fantasy won't do us any more favors than an endless feast of glurge. I'd argue that the cynical nature of these really hurt our ability to hope and work for better. It gets us to accept the hopelessness and jaded outlook of things as 'That's the way it is. I can't change it,' and stops us from fighting when we NEED to fight."

Yeah they can still die just not from old age, and personally I assume they do have some sort of time limit on their age even if they aren't killed, at some point their brain is just going to go "Not made for this amount of stuff, shutting down now." of course that still means they could live to be 150 but personally I would not want to live until I'm 150 trapped in my 14 year old body.

Not sure if the LCL thing has actually been confirmed or if it's just fanjecture.

[SPOILERS] Asuka, Mari and LCL exposure
Just a hunch...
From all the reviews we have had here, some people mentioned the photo of Yui in the conversation between Shinji and Fuyutsuki and that they may have spotted Mari on there...
So just what if Mari has been exposed to LCL already much longer? From what I get, people here assuma that she and Asuka are now ~28 years old, stuck in the bodies of ~14 year olds.
Same goes for Asuka. We kinda didnt get any backstory of her in NME so far. All we know (correct me if Im wrong) is that she is a total ace with everything and already gained a very high rank status. And it has even in NGE been kinda awkward, that she was THAT good/fast at school at that age.
So what if shes already been way older in 2.22 and it was just kept a secret? She might even be a few years older than 28...
Flame on!

Even if that speculation were true, neither could be exposed to LCL before its invention, which was certainly post-2I (probably about 2I +4 years, when Yui had her activation test). So at most 10 more years would be possible, since 3I was 14 years after 2I.

Re: [SPOILERS] Asuka, Mari and LCL exposure
Well yeah. 10 years is a lot. Especially the difference between 14 and 24 would be a huge deal.
But I don't think that Asuka was that old in 2.22... But for Mari, everything goes.

Well think of it this way: saying they that havn't aged because otherwise they wouldn't be able to sell more statues, posters, action figures, plushies, coffee, clothes, airplane tickets, stationary, eye drops or shaving accessories wouldn't make sense in the EVANGELION UNIVERSE :p
The three people who havn't aged in 3.0: Mari, Rei and Asuka. The three characters who are on most of the merchandise?
And what is that? - Username

I'm still unsure what exactly is going on in 3.0, so feel free to correct me if needed. :) Hope I'm not making this thread off-topic, it seems like the best place to put my thoughts.
I am a little surprised that neither Mari (her being in Yui's flashback aside) or Asuka apparently aren't given much in the way of backstory considering the build up/hints in 2.0. I totally get that there are time constraints (script revisions are a hellish process, too) and Evangelion is ultimately Shinji's story, but 2.0 CRC made it seem that Asuka and Mari would get proper characterization in 3.0.
Curious if 3.33 BD/DVD or 4.0 will at least go into either of their motivations or how they managed to mature in the past 14 years. At least a scene or two to flesh them out slightly would be nice (e.g. the only thing 2.0 was missing, IMO) unless their base personalities really are all we need to know about them? I'm assuming Mari's deal won't be revealed until close to the very end of 4.0.
I'm not articulating my thoughts correctly so bear with me here. LCL retention is interesting on a meta level with "act like an adult when you finally become one". (Though "Curse of Eva" also works with Studio Khara essentially working on NME to let go of Eva once and for all, putting it behind them, if I'm remembering one of the 2.0 CRC Anno interviews correctly.)
Whatever hell Near Third Impact caused the cast to endure, Mari and Asuka have become proper adults (owing up to responsibilities, doing what needs to be done, etc) regardless of their youthful appearance. Clueless Shinji however (who's also now 28 like them?) refuses to admit his actions have consequences, or at the very least. attempt to right any wrongs in the present day--Shinji is essentially stuck as a child/teenager by refusing to move forward in his life and accept responsibility. Reminds me of my old post from the English title (You Can (Not) Redo) discussion.
Does anybody else agree with any of this, or am I way off the mark here?

Chronogically speaking yes, physically and mentally speaking no. He's existed for as long as Mari and Asuka but he's not been aware.
As far as Shinji knows, its seconds after he 'saved' Ayanami'. Its like (and this might be a obscure reference for the young folks) the first episode of red dwarf when Lister steps into the statis field, then steps out 3 million years later but for him no time at all has passed.

SSD, what are you doing here? Did you give up like Kendrix and others?
There's one phrase of Kaworu about repeating things until you feel that it's good enough that is also giving some meta-level thinking... Besides some sequel-like thinking.

So let’s make a wish.

Wait, what? Mari is in the Yui flashback? First i've heard of this. I'm assuming she is the same age...?
I have not seen 3.0 yet, but if it's all true what I've read about so far
Im really a bit disappointed how they've changed the storry (a bit too much?)
I was afraid of a time skip too but judging on the Trailers and the first 6:42 mins (Asuka, Mari, Rei and Shinji are still 14 years old) i was reliefed that there won't be a time skip
and now... there was a 14 years time skip
That is what disturbs me monst... the reason why they still look like 14
first time I've read that i thought "Oh come on are you kidding" but I've read it several times so i had do admit that its true T.T
Wasn't there any other reason they could imagine...?
I know Evangelion is an anime and science fiction but LCL prevents from aging? There was never said anything about.
[joking]Why they don't sell it as the best anti-aging product ever?[/joking]

aging
To an earlier post, I also agree and don't see any reason as to why the couldn't sell 28 year old Asuka merchandise.
However, I think the purpose of Asuka (and Mari) not aging is like dangling a fish in front of Shinji that he can never get. If Asuka was 28 in body, he would obviously move on, but since she still looks his age, he won't fully grasp why she is pulling away from him even though he understands what is happening.

We are all wasting our time.
