Have you ever thought that we are giving the Eva universe much thought?I mean we all know that the Eva universe is huge, with many details, mysteries, personalities, things to analyse but some times i think we are speculating things that not even the creators have thought about them....

There are hundreds of topics discussing many details that are found on the TV serie or movies, topics that were created just from speculation or a word of from just an image.....

I too myself have speculated many things regarding the EVA series but lately i've been thinking ''maybe we are just giving it too much thought''.....

Have I ever thought it? Yes. Do I want to believe it? Hell no, I have enough trouble forgiving an author when they tell me they didn't have the major plot points planned out.

Though I do think people over think some things.

I find myself using the "it's fiction" or "it's a cartoon" defense a lot, so yeah, I do think it get's over-thought sometimes.

I would argue it's just the opposite.
Anno and Co. spent years working on this project. I guarantee their thoughts were consumed with the story, its universe, characters, etc. prior and throughout the duration of the series, all day, every day. The 26 episodes and movies we got out of it are infinitesimal compared to the amount of thought they put into creating it. There are in innumerable amount of allusions and subtexts that, to this day, we can't decipher or haven't even noticed.
I hate when people think that Gainex just threw together something without much thought. They clearly intricately constructed this universe that we still discuss and debate nearly 20 years after its inception.

The Eva universe is big and complex that's why there are many different theories/thoughts about the story, the plot, the ending, analysing the characters, their actions and their motivations.

I never thought that Gainex just threw something without much thought. But just because there is something that cant be noticed with a first look on a scene or because you dont give much thought on a sentance doesnt mean that there is a meaning behind it.

Take a look at the threads of the first 5 pages of this section(Evangelion Discussion). You will find that some things are beyond imagination(i dont want to name them but i am sure you will find them out). And then you are starting to wondering ''i never thought about that.....maybe it is true maybe it is not......or maybe i am giving it too much thought''

But who is to say what people speculate is wrong?
That is, what if whatever "crazy" theories people have that may or may not have even crossed the creators' minds DID, in fact, cross their minds? We'll never know. That's my point, I suppose. That so much brain power went into the project, anyone would be hard-pressed to say with absolute certainty that the creators didn't give [fill in the blank] meaning.

Contemplating one's entertainment is just another way to keep the mind active, creative, and honed. It's not for everyone, but I'd say it only deserves to be slammed ("you're thinking too hard!", and the like) when it actually detracts from quality of life in some way. (And even in those cases of hyperzealous nerdery, it's probably more the case that a person has a preexisting problem that they "medicate" with obsessive fandom, rather than the fandom being the intrinsic cause.)

The series is one where the main story sinks hooks in; but it is maddeningly close to the edge of coherence. So when you're hooked by it, there's the urge to try and make it make sense. Now at times, this can get to levels of seeing faces in clouds (or glue on the cels), but once you've started, it's fun to carry on.
