Would you want Funimation to redub the series?

Would you want Funimation to redub the series with the their rebuild movie cast? I personally would love to see this happen as I prefer Funimations cast over ADV's

No. Won't happen because there wouldn't be any return on investment for the project. Even though I usually prefer subs, I don't mind NGE's English dub, warts and all.

I'm curious as to which characters or VAs exactly you (Or anyone else who shares the same thoughts, for that matter) prefer over the originals though.

The only redubbing I'd want to see is to fix some of the really awful lines in the first episode or two, along with Yui's "I'm dating Gendo Rokubungi... a lot!!" You know, like ADV should have done when they rereleased the series years ago.

It's nice and idealistic enough to be able to go back and update the dub, but from a business stand point it's just unrealistic at this time. There's no profit to be had in going through the process of making and distributing a new dub when A) one already exists and while it may not be the best it's still good enough, and B) the original series is dated at this point and wouldn't be very marketable. If something were to happen, like say Anno decides to completely re-master and update the original series-- new animation, new revised script, etc. Essentially a remake, and one that gets massive distribution-- then maybe there might be some new hope for a dub. Except Rebuild pretty much fits that bill already, so there goes that idea.

I've seen some conversions of scenes of The End of Evangelion to 1080p in Youtube and they look pretty darn awesome...

I really doubt Gainax doesn't have a digital master to use... (ya, right...)

Instead it's possible that they don't have any HD transfer yet, they remastered Evangelion in 2003, obviously I can't be completely sure about it but I'm prone to think that they transferred it in SD.

Yeah, this is pretty much a given; anyway when the time will come we'll probably curse Gainax for losing the masters of episode 16 since it'll be much easier to notice it in HD...

I really do want to know 1) how no-one noticed this in the translation or the dub ( were ADV not given the original scrips and directions? 2) why it wasnt fixed for the platinums and 3) at what stage they realised their f**k-up which frankly makes the scene look ridiculous and 4) whether they did know and one of those 'slap or gunshot' decisions were taken.

It's not like that...

Let's imagine that we only know of cave paintings (Evangelion) through books, one of those old, black and white, Larousse books with poor image quality...
Making Evangelion in HD would be like updating the images on the book you read with clear, colored images that are to standard with today's books...

They don't have to "repaint" anything... You just got a way to see it better...
