What a coincidence. Must be that show airing most of the time that he decides to give up.

It's some kind of national tradition, especially in southern Italy, don't pay any particular attention to it, just stay in your room and close the windows and shutters if you happen to be in Italy during New Year.
So let’s make a wish.

Memories of having rockets fired at my taxi in the middle of Vienna right after midnight. Some people just can't seem to learn from the mistakes of others...

If you´re not on the streets and stopping cars with miniature explosives when midnight hits, you´re doing it wrong.

Fireworks are now banned in the city, shitloads of policemen

And in China, outside of the megacities, you´re not even safe from unsafe fireworks on both new years´ whenever some store opens or someone gets married.

I never thought I would come back to Evangelion after EoE,
But I discovered Re-Take (or it found me?) and
now here I am.

Well, that movie series turned out to be a bad omen for the US, just look at Rambo III which was dedicated to "the brave Mujahideen fighters of Afghanistan".

After a long period of admiration from the west, especially Americans, and at Saddam's invasion of Kuwait, the Sauds kicked Bin Laden's can after informing him they had little need for his buddies for Desert Shield, and that drove him berserk (internally).

A pair of the days ago the dailymail launched a pretty alarmist warning about a possible "imminent" eruption of Laacher See in Germany. I don't know if it's really going to erupt any time soon, apparently specialists says otherwise, yet I had no idea that there were quiescent volcanoes in Germany.

Talking about central Europe and potential mass disasters, Austria is clashing with the Czech Republic over nuclear energy.
So let’s make a wish.

Yeah, Austrians are very proud of the decision of being against nuclear power, although the vote in 1979 was very, very close. In fact only a little majority of 50,5% have voted against atomic power. But when Tschernobyl happened everyone in Austria finally thought that it was a good idea. And after Fukushima, people feel reinforced in their believes again.

The opposite happened here, in fact more people wanted nuclear power in the UK after Fukushima.

Instead in Italy we narrowly escaped from a return to nuclear energy, Fukushima reminded of nuclear energy risks to my short-minded compatriots just some time before our nuclear plan was becoming a concrete reality.

Are Britons masochists or something? I can understand that people could remain convinced on their pro-nuclear believes but an increasing on substainers of nuclear power is kinda weird.

I'm going to go ahead and call "no politics" on the nuclear debate.
