When Will Lee Win?

Having failed at finding this thread elsewhere in the archives, and envisaging the possibility of this forum's members being enticed by the justification presented to the EvaGeeks tribunal by the all too loathed AWL, I am depositing this link for you to gawk at. Of course, any schmuck can make an account on IMDb and pose as Eric Freeman or whomever, but given her post history and her industry namedropping, this might actually be the one-who-must-not-be-named.

Unlike Socrates, her defense is short and to the point. No mention of the splatter shot or the JSSDF trash talk, but Ah! I guess she already chalked those desecrations up in the CoE to a fit of frolicking "strictly for my own amusement." Oh, Mrs. Winn, will your giddiness ever cease?

The jury may rise.

I think this is going to be declared a mistrial, maybe it's her(?)

however, I find it hard to believe she or one of her cronies scour teh intrawebz' series of tubes and act as spin doctors, that would have to cost some money along with time and effort

also, leaving indicators to where you are on the internet could resulting in Anons or other miscreants to find ways to send her metric tons of homo pr0n, pizza, Chinese food, etc.

It's not the first time they'd sign up for forum accounts: http://madboards.madman.com.au/search.php?search_author=AmandaWinnLee

Also Tiffany Grant showing up to dispell some rumors on THAT BOARD is another instance.

Are you suggesting that someone would exploit IMDB's site to gain access to personal information (in IMDB's case an email address) of a single user?

for the record, I am not encouraging that something like that should happen (not worth it IMO)

but in this day and age, a notorious individual like AWL among /b/tards and perhaps Anon might make her a "high-value target" if you like

this has happened many times

oh...

and Tiffany Grant on THAT BOARD, I wish I could have been there to see it, that is PRICELESS, srsly?!

what, did the Asuka futa really get to her and/or was there major Rule 34 going on with her?

No, I'm just suggesting things don't work that way. In the case of that link you provided, someone from his school ratted out his identity. In a case of exploiting a website, you're combining a lot of extraordinary circumstances, some of which could be coerced (like phishing, but then you already know her email address) in order to successfully gain escalated privileges to ultimately get personal details (like email address) of a single targeted individual. Attacks like this is shotgun, as in you kind of hope to get maybe a chunk of a userbase. In the event of complete access getting blown, even if it's the server running the database for IMDB users, getting a single person's email address is insignificant to what you can ultimately do, especially the enormous amount of work (and risk) it would involve. Or you can just look at her madman user profile and see the email address plain as day.

The incident on THAT BOARD wasn't as priceless as you'd think, there was only maybe 3 or 4 posts. I don't think anyone believed it was her at first and EM emailed her about it.

I have heard allegations that it is easy to triangulate someone's location via their IP address by the way of using a single e-mail address and doing a search on WHOIS

I have never done this btw, but I hear this allegedly works

No idea where you heard that from, but other than geo locating services which have roughly 60% accuracy in placing an IP address in the correct county (no idea how email addresses and the WHOIS domain database plays into this), and I've been in this business since the late 90's. I guess other than extraordinary circumstances like the email address belongs to an ISP that provides service for only 1 city inside the county that the IP geo locates to whose WHOIS domain registration information happens to list the ISP's company address and the guy you're looking for lives upstairs.

Actually, carousing the interwebs recently, I came to the conclusion that, as of 2010, she still acts like that.

Notice that around the five-minute mark she parrots almost verbatim the same defense that she used on IMDb. She also dubs herself a "perfectionist"... even O.J. wasn't in this much denial.

And here I was hoping for an apparent acquittal. Read Kafka.

Look, I don't hate the Winn. I think she did a mighty fine job adapting NGE into English, which wasn't an easy thing to do; her versions of Shinji, Misato, Rei, Asuka and Gendo were driven by some pretty extraordinary performances. That deserves credit where credit be due. I just think we oughta cast blame too where blame be due. Ain't a hard thing to do.

She did a terrible job as English voice director for EoE.

She has no attention to detail, as every actor clearly pronounces Evangelion differently (and all of them incorrectly).

She does not stay true to the original intent as she claims, as she added lines and sound effects that were not in the original, and was responsible for the famous change of a slap to a gunshot.

She can't act.

She does deserve credit... credit for producing one of the worst, most laughable, most grating English dubs of all time.

I've heard all your arguments before, and despite the Lebowski reference I do agree with quite a few of them. However, do you really think the dub is one of the "most grating...of all time"? Rei. Misato. Shinji. Gendo. These were "grating" performances? I thought they were smooth and fluid executions of acting that fit the characters very well.

I literally don't give a fuck about AWL.

Firstly, I disliked her changes in the dub, but it's a dub in the first place, so I don't really care. It wasn't her changes that primarily made me dislike the Eva dub, it was everything else. Of everything I found wrong in the original dubs, the swearing and stupid changes were the least of its problems.
Secondly, I disliked her Rei, but again it's a dub so it's not like it impacts me unless I willingly choose to throw in the Eva dub which has only happened an astounding one time.
Thirdly, of all the nauseatingly offensive extras to plague the R1 Eva releases AWL's contributions are ineffectual at best.
Fourthly, again it's a dub so who cares?

I completely agree with all of this, it's just that she's already been crucified so many times here on EGF that it's kind of old hat by now. And really, what are ya gonna do? The DVD isn't even in print anymore; the problems it had 9 years ago aren't going to get any better by complaining about them today.

She did a pretty good job at depicting that one "Emotionaless" attitude of Rei in NGE's TV series, but never found how to portray that line between "Emotionless" and simply not knowing what emotion was or how to deal with it, as how Hayashibara achieved in her performance.

Beyond that, she shouldn't direct or cast an English dub. Beyond what BrikHaus said about her directorial techniques, she also has no sense of casting abilities. The only reason why she picked most of the cast she did was because they were merely carry-overs from the TV series. The characters she had to completely recast were terrible. Keith Burgess should have never been chosen to play Makoto Hyuga, and that's all there is to it.

I don't know what you're talking about, Dub Fuyutsuki and him were the most entertaining things in the EoE dub.

The only praise I can give to AWL's Rei is that she had a proper awkward feel to her that was uncanny, unfortunately she didn't have all the other layers to make it work.
