Moonwalk (Designated Weird Image Thread) [3]

Yeah. You read right. This is for everything that doesn't have anything to do with Eva.

Kay, wanted to post this last night but didn't have the time. I just realized the captcha systems true purpose is not to weed out bots but to generate insults. Good old captcha!

You know where those come from, right? In the effort to digitize printed books, people like the Library of Congress use very sophisticated OCR to scan in printed material, and sometimes, rarely, it doesn't work. When that happens, someone has to physically go and read the print and enter in the correct word into the computer. They take those bits that can't get OCRed and use them as captchas since the most sophisticated OCR programs can't crack them, a ghetto bot shouldn't be able to.

I don't suppose we could make a funny pictures thread by any chance. Just a thought.

But aren't motivational posters and most macros's considered silly images? The rules do say we can post them here.

Evageeks is not an image board; we're lucky we even have this thread. This is a place for weird images, not a dumpster for memes and anything you find funny. Image Macros and (de)motivational posters are highly meme-ish, and belong somewhere like 4chan, not here.

Then, what exactly constitutes as "weird image", so we don't make the same mistakes? Would something along the line of my "Asuka cooking" image I posted early count?

Things relating to Eva should stay in the Hikari! thread. Weird images involve abstract things. Are Motivational posters and image macros abstract? No.

The Eva Monkey wrote:I think this should be the designated weird image thread. No Eva allowed.

We have the "Go Hikari!" thread for Eva-related images.

As you can see from the original Moonwalk thread linked above, it included some demotivationals and memes. I believe it was in the spirit of the thread to share images which depicted unconventional behaviour, irony in a situation, cynicism, or humourous images (incl. comics) that could be appreciated by the EvaGeeks forum community.
If enough people request that certain styles of image not be shared in this thread so that it can retain a sense of quality for more of us I feel that is fair.

Kay, just to clarify the captcha that looked oddly like a very bad insult counts as a weird image right? Just covering my tuckus here. (thought I would mix things up and use that old timey phrase.

@SSAS: Ornette seems fine with it, and I... I can't seem to think of how 'mforet' would be an insult, so yeah, good post.

You talk as if only abstract images are allowed here (image macros are not abstract so should not count as weird images, so should not appear here) but I think not all weird images are abstract. Whether image macros and motivational poster should be in this thread or not should not be related to whether they are abstract or not.

Anyway, today I learn a new word (no, make it two) - (de)motivation poster.

I'm just waiting for the day when "moforet" will be automatically replaced on EvaGeeks with something like "word that sounds like a hybrid term for a ferret looking for MILF" or something like that. That's when you know it's too far in its meme status here.
