Are you serious? There is no Sohryu in rebuild. And, Shikinami is a fundamentally different character from Sohryu, even developing in a different matter along the lines of a Tsundere.

Actually, tbh, Mari seems to have no interest in Shinji. In fact, she belittles him the first time she sees him. I honestly don't see a relationship between the two.

Well...Rei was never competition. Asuka, just misread the situation horribly.

And, I really would hope not because everyone has just been jumping on Shinji's jock lately it's getting rather tiring. Hopefully Mari continues to headfuck him, and hopefully Asuka hating Shinji regarding Bardiel.

Even though Rebuild's Asuka is far more emotionally-stable than TV's Asuka due to her seemingly "lighter" past, I cannot imagine someone with her personality welcoming a blatantly cocky teammate into the group. "Pissed" is likely the right guess.

You've still got to factor in that she's been mind-raped, and (loath as I am to remember it) left comatose and mangled.
