Eva Action Figures (including Rebuild) [1]

I don't think one's been announced yet, but it's inevitable. It already has a Rebuild-ized design in one of the new Evangelion Patchinko games, and Kaiyodo won't pass up releasing what's essentially an EVA-03 redeco.

I don't know why I havent ordered 00. I suppose I'm just not impressed by it particularly, and I believe @I Accidentally Dracula is right, if Revoltech/Kaiyodo release it, the Otaku will buy it, so I imagine it's on the way...

After all, the released a Kaworu figure in conjunction with 1.0, sat on a deceased MP Eva with a kitten. Which has NO relevance to that film. But I still bought it...

I'm guessing most Eva fans here don't collect Eva action figures?
I suppose I'll have to post my own reviews and impressions when i get my grubby hands on these figures.....

I recently ordered Rebuild 00, 01, and the OY weps set. It's supposed to get here in 2 days, so I'll prolly make a post then. I really wanna get my hands on Rebuild 02 and Provo 05, naturally. I also hope they make 06 soon.

I just got a temp teaching job so I should have some money soon and intend to get the Unit 01 & Unit 02 figures. Maybe somewhere down the line I'll then splurge for Unit 00 & Unit 03.

It might be a while until I get Unit 05.

And I give it 5 weeks and then we'll hear an announcement of an Evangelion 06 figure.

I've got Eva-05, and I collect other stuff, I'm just way to lazy do write a review about it. Especially when there are many other reviews available, and many other people more qualified to carry out such a review.

I used to have the Sega figures of EVA-00 Orange, EVA-02, EVA-03 and EVA-04 years ago, as well as the standard Kaiyodo EVA-03 figure (more articulated and with more accessories than the Sega figure, but molded in some dynamic bestial pose that pretty much made lower body articulation pointless) and the Kaiyodo Revoltech TV versions of EVA-03 and EVA-04 more recently.

All of the above either ended up falling apart or I just lost interest in them and sold them off.

Cool. It'll be fun to see what someone else here thinks of the set. Ive had the Revoltech Unit 00 and Unit 01 for a few years now. THe Operation Yashima set is a pretty cool edition, if not overpriced when i had bought it. I see it now retailing for half of what it sold two years ago.

I'm hoping though that the new revoltechs for Evangelion 2.0 will be a bit sturdier than what i've heard from some people so far. Other collectors from some Japanese toy sites have complained of pieces snapping off and such. ANd the joints being weaker this time around. I hope thats not true......

Yes its confirmed. I saw Unit 01 last week and just a few days ago at some local hobby shops in my city. The Chest is indeed black instead of purple. The holes in the chest armour are coloured red with black in the core.

Well, the joints on Unit-05 aren't that bad, but they could be a bit stronger.
I don't normally buy revoltech though so I don't have anything else to compare it to.

Now that I finally found time to post, I can talk about these little buggers. I currently have Eva-01, 02 and 05 in my possession, with 03 on the way. Eva-02 and 05 were immediately in my shopping cart, but I was apprehensive to buy yet another Eva-01 Revoltech, seeing as I already have five of them (normal, Type-F armor, Yamashita original color version, Rebuild 1.0 version, CR Eva metallic paint version) - especially as the promo pics made it look like the ugliest looking one so far - but in the end I'm glad I did.

The new packaging is nice, I like it. The Yamaguchi logo looks cool. The leaflet inside the box shows the Alien Revoltech, yay. A neat bonus is that you get a free Assemble Borg in each box (they're sorta like Revoltech Minis, but with an emphasis on customisation through parts swapping. I think you can buy new Borg parts using Revochips. I dunno, I'm not an expert on these things). I got the same model with each Revoltech - once in red and twice in turquoise colors. You also get one Revochip and a transparent orange parts box, which is quite handy for small parts. You can stack multiple boxes, they click together.

These are completely new models and the articulation is improved from previous Revos, as has been said. Eva-01's colors are striking - the purple looks a little more metallic than the previous standard Revoltechs, and the green hilights are bright - they are a little more 'mint', as opposed to the 'lime' green of the 1.0 Eva-01 Revo. The jaw is now hinged which means there's no need for a variant head here. 02 could do with one so we can go all beast mode, but sadly we only get one, non-hinged head for 02.

Huh, it looks like the pylons are suspended higher over the eva's shoulders in this series than they are in the others. Maybe that's not a big deal, but for such a perfect looking toy it kind of sticks out.

It's true, they are, and it bugged me until I realised why. They are not actually attached to the arms at all, but rather the body, just behind the point that the arm connects to, via a very small hole and peg setup. As a result they can be disconnected, which means they can swap both standard and specialised shoulder parts - I've had Eva-01 wearing Eva-02's standard and Type-S pylons, and vice versa with 02 sporting Eva-01's standard and prog-knife-deploying pylons. This setup also means that the pylons can swing upwards, lifting off the shoulder (it's fun and just looks cool hinging them up and down). Eva-05's shoulder parts cannot be swapped this way though.

Speaking of 05, like Fazmotron I'm surprised by the size - it's not in scale with the other Revos (unless 05 is a juvenile Eva in 2.0 :P), which I think is kinda lame. And as a result, its joints - primarily the already thin 'arms' - are terrifyingly breakable looking. Despite this, they actually feel reasonably strong for their size, but I wouldn't stress them too much all the same. Anything else you want to know about this figure should be obvious from the video that Electric Sachiel linked to, so do take a look at that if you're curious. It's a pretty sweet figure.

I have the first revoltech releases of of eva units 1-3. The legs, and how they always want to be this farrrrrrrrrrr apart, kind of bother me.

This has been fixed with the new design - the legs can be positioned closer together now.

Is there a new EVA 04 model?!

As has been said, they'll probably do a repaint using the new 03 figure, but a 'Rebuild style' 04 Revoltech technically already exists in the form of the 04 from the CR Eva metallic paint version set. If demanded I can probably take pictures of that as well as the other figures I've discussed here when I get some time.

Anyway, the new features that these figures possess has me excited to receive Eva-03, and has secured my purchase of the new Eva-00 when that becomes available.
