The joke of the song is he keeps saying "like a boss", talking as though he's actually doing something tough while in reality just plain doing things a boss does (for the most part, anyway). A lot of Lonely Island songs are like that, they make fun of themselves by being whimpy white rappers.

And of course when it comes out of Shinji's mouth its just plain hilarious... Also it's funny how the images fit so well sometimes (i.e "ohlol I never thought of it like that!")

i just think its a catchy song, and obviously mixed with an anime like evangelion, u get awesomeness. it doesn't have anythign to do with the lonely island being whimpy and white and rapping, and making a joke about being a boss, it just sounds good
