Eva 1.11 and 2.22 DVD/BD Extras Discussion

Mod note: Mainly a thread for what extras Funimation did and didn't include in their Eva DVD/BD releases. Discussion of what extras other releases had (original Japanese release, other countries, etc) can go in here too.~SSD

View Original PostSailor Star Dust wrote:Also, sorry if this was answered already and I missed it, but for anybody who happens to have the 2.22 DVD already: do the extras seem identical to the 2.22 BD release or it's hard to say?

I know with the 1.11 BD, it had all the features of the 2-disc DVD with the curious omission of the 2.22 trailer. (Odd that the BD would have less features than the DVD.)

What the 1.11 DVD (disc 2) included is:

~Rebuild of Evangelion 1.01 (Making of Feature; the Sagisu and Ravel versions are backwards).

~Angel of Doom Promo Video

~News flash (Well, mostly. See below.)

~Beautiful World trailer (Versions 2/2A/2B)

~Trailers for Funimation's other releases.

What was missing (but I'm assuming on 1.11 BD?):

~The version of the News Flash which features the "New Character, New Machine, New Story" text!

~Fly Me to the Moon trailer(s)

~The rest of the Beautiful World trailer(s)

~Eva 2.0 trailer(s)

~The TV spots for 1.01 and 1.11: one of them featured footage of Rei; another had an example of brightness differences between 1.01 and 1.11.

I'm bringing this up in here because I really hope 2.22 DVD versus BD doesn't have this problem. Not everybody can shell out money for both versions AND there's no excuse to not have the same extras the Japanese release did! :raincloud: Though, the Scripts have never been included in Eva U.S. releases AFAIK.

I didn't see any of that stuff in the BD.

Funny, on my DVD I have the Fly Me to the Moon trailer and the 2.0 preview. Are you sure we got the same dub release?

It should be a 2-disc DVD (and there's no arrow button for access to anything else that I've seen) with the CG-Khara pic of Eva-01 firing a gun.

Also: 2.0 Next Time Preview at the end of the film is NOT the same thing as the first Trailer for 2.0, just to clarify.

Here, a screencap:

I'll probably screencap my 2.22 DVD extras disc when I get it as well to compare/contrast.

Um... This is my disc 2 for the 2-disc 1.11 DVD:

Image

Fly Me to The Moon Versions 1, 1A, and 1B is just the song stapled to the 1.0 theatrical trailer. "Preview 1 Color-Corrected Version" was the Fly Me to The Moon version of the 2.0 theatrical trailer.

Something's amiss here....

EDIT: Yes, my copy is the Funimation release.

To keep things tidy, discussion of Funimation's missing extras specifically for 1.11 (BOTH the Blu-Ray and DVD had changes after the first-printing! :shinji_boohoo: ) are here.

If people want to post and discuss their screencaps of the 2.22 DVD/BD releases (and by the time Third Impact hits, other New Movie Edition releases  ), feel free to do that in here.

The extras on 1.11 didn't impress me that much anyway. A lot of still art, trailers, and TV spots, but no commentary, interviews, deleted scenes, etc.

I have the 1.11 BD and it contained all the stuff that was in the 1.11 DVD. Maybe I got an updated copy. Was their a problem with the original 1.11 BD?

You have it backwards, TheFriskyIan. The 1st pressing of the DVD and BD had all of the extras, the latter ones had some of the trailers removed.

Strange, because I have a load of extras and its pretty much everything you mentioned. I only got my copy a few months back. I guess I'm just lucky.

here are the screen caps of the extras on 2.22 DVD, it's a little different from 1.11 because some of the extras are on disc one.
Disc 1 extras - in case you can't read that it says Eva cast commentary

disc 2 extras

I don't think it would be. Both the DVD and Blu-ray say 40 minutes of extras, so I don't think we're gonna get screwed again.

At least, you guys won't. I have all the extras on my 1.11.

No 2.22 Fly Me To the Moon or 2.22 Beautiful World trailers considering those were on the First Printing of Funimation's 1.11 DVD/BD. Sad face. (At least we get The Final Decision We All Must Take trailer.)

Will be posting menu screencaps shortly in that other thread.

Kaji: "Ikari Shinji-kun?" Shinji: "Hai?" Kaji: "Aishiteru yo." :hitthetable:

EDIT:

Regarding the Eva 2.22 Booklet...anybody else have the amusing typo where the TV series is referred to as "Evangelion New Theatrical Edition (1995) instead of what SHOULD say "Neon Genesis Evangelion"?

Also: the back-to-back pages of Evangelion units and the Angels... While the Angel numbering, a photo, and a brief description of each Angel is listed, the page of the Eva units only has their names/numbering and a photo. There's no description of EACH Eva (general Evangelion description similar for the Angels, but that's all). I'm curious if this was the case for anybody else?

The booklet does have rather interesting information in it, I suggest y'all take a read-through.
