What anime would you re-dub?

As the title suggests, what anime shows that you have seen where the dub acting was so bad, you didn't bother listen to it?

I'm sure the answer to most anti-dub people would be "All of them!!!!" But what anime had the wrong casting for the characters? Which better actors from the anime world would you replace them with?

I only have one show and that is: the entire cast of X/1999.

The casting was a complete load of crap. Here is the cast:

credit:animenewsnetwork.com

Adam Henderson as Fuuma Monou

Alan Marriott as Kamui Shirou

Larissa Murray as Kotori Monou

Anne-Marie Lawless as Yuzuriha Nekoi

David Harris as Seiichirou Aoki

Denica Fairman as Kanoe

Mike Fitzpatrick as Sorata Arisugawa

Nigel Whitney as Yuuto Kigai

Rupert Degas as Shougo Asagi

Teresa Gallagher as Arashi Kishyuu

Toni Barry as Karen Kasumi

Liza Ross as Tohru

Stacey Jefferson as Hinoto

One question comes to mind about all these people: WHO?!?!?! I mean, come on. The ones in italic don't even have a fricking profile. The ones that are normal, well they have only been in a space of 2-10 anime shows to the least, and most of them aren't even popular (the only one show that was popular to one of these actors was Inuyasha)

If I replaced them with better actors, it would look something like this:

Brian Drummond as Fuuma Monou

Kirby Morrow as Kamui Shirou

Julie Maddalena as Kotori Monou

Kelly Sheridan as Yuzuriha Nekoi

David Kaye as Seiichirou Aoki

Enuka Okuma as Kanoe

Aaron Krohn as Sorata Arisugawa

Ted Cole as Yuuto Kigai

Brian Granveldt as Shougo Asagi

Allison Keith as Arashi Kishyuu

Wendee Lee as Karen Kasumi

Sue Ulu as Tohru

Sandy Fox as Hinoto

Well, that's only on X/1999. Is there any anime you would wish to replace a rubbish person or entire cast in the dub?

Spike Spiegel: Look at my eyes, Faye. One of them is a fake because I lost it in an accident. Since then, I've been seeing the past in one eye and the present in the other. So, I thought I could only see patches of reality, never the whole picture. I felt like I was watching a dream I could never wake up from. Before I knew it, the dream was over.

I would re-dub Eva. Worst dub ever. At the absolute least I would change Misato, Asuka and Shinji. Rei and Kaji were ok, and Gendotron was acceptable. I don't really know who I'd replace them with, though. Probably someone whose voice doesn't make me want to pound large nails into my forehead.

And dubs aren't all bad. The Cowboy Bebop dub, for example, was very good. And Hellsing's outrageous english accents were quite fun.

Well, the voice actors for Sohruyuu, Ayanami, and Katsuragi sang Fly Me To The Moon, in a few special versions of it, and there pronouncations of the lyrics were pretty good.
Maybe they could speak English to replace the Japanese?

It's probabyl easier to list the dubs I've heard that I wouldn't prefer to be redone. The list is

* Steamboy (The version I saw had proper regional accents for the characters. )

And that's it. Not that sub-titles are a panacea, when there's much dub-titling going on (even in good stuff like Noir, let alone the butchery committed on Laputa by the Disney dubing down patrol).

Those Who Hunt Elves. Especially the first few episodes, the random bystander voices were so awful I was banging my head on the wall.

I'm torn between Gravitation and Eva.

The reaction of the fans at the screening of Gravitation at AnimeNext 2004 was hilarious. But what we didn't realize was that the English VA of Ryuichi was in the room, and we made him saaad. ):

But whenever Evangelion is on Adult Swim, I actually WAKE UP. Okay? My TV volume will be on 6. Which is really quiet. And the moment Evangelion starts up, I wake up and end up watching the whole episode, and it makes me want to cry. The voice-acting is just so horrible.

Spike Spencer as Shinji = WTF, MATE.
Tiffany Grant as Asuka = Those episodes haven't come on yet, but she's just sooo annoying. D:

...but yeah. Dubs in general usually annoy me, except a select few. Like Trigun and er, to an extent, Full Metal Alchemist. The voices in FMA are okay, but...better in Japanese.

...OMG. On the topic of voices, but not on the topic of anime.

Has anybody played Baten Kaitos? The voices in that game are the worst in ANYTHING I have ever seen. Like, ever. Ever ever ever. D; It's like they took a knife to BonzaiBuddy's throat and told him to speak in a seductive voice.

I don't mind the dubs on Eva at all, although I don't know if they changed them for AS or not, I haven't watched those. I am one of those people who only watches anime dubbed because I like hearing English voices and reading the subs tend to distract from the scene. I know I will get the whole "dubs are evil" speech about how they screw the story line up and such. But misinterpreting a couple things is better than listening to Japanese voices and reading, while watching a show at the same time to me.

Actually, when I think about it, I would take some really bad anime, and make the dubbing so bad it makes the show funny.

Black Lion is a great example. It's such a bad anime, but the English dub by ADV was so bad it's one of my favorites.

Bad anime + Really bad dubbing = HILARITY

You never were alone, mate.
I have watched the series throughout both dubbed and subtitled, and I have come to prefer the dub. Simply because the way I see it, I am just enjoying the series in the same way the creators and the Japanese audience did: In their native language.

That's pretty much how I got thru Sorcerer Hunters.

And I think ever anime needs to be redubbed, specifically with the original Japanese voice actors.

Not that sub-titles are a panacea, when there's much dub-titling going on (even in good stuff like Noir, let alone the butchery committed on Laputa by the Disney dubing down patrol).

I have wanted a resub for Noir for a while now.

Not really. In fact, we just want to get rid of them.

Edit: v There's an easy solution to that problem... Learn a little Japanese. For those of us who had to learn 2+ languages in school (our native language not included), this isn't too much of a hassle. And you can't say that you lack motivation.
