Welcome to the NHK-Anime or the manga or the novel?
I'm very interested in this story. However, do you think I should read the manga or the novel or watch the anime first?

It was available at one time, but it was a TokyoPop release. They never keep anything in print for very long. Now you'll have to settle for Amazon Marketplace, eBay, or other second-/third-hand sellers with terrible prices.
So... no, it's not that readily available. I hadn't realized the western release was already OOP when I made my comment. Sorry, dude

You'll become a NEET if you pirate manga. Scientific fact.
I thought the anime was pretty good. I'd watch it a second time.
I do hear that the manga is better, though, so my advice is to watch the anime online and then go buy the manga(because the manga industry is in dire need of your moneys, so stop being a cheapskate and buy something dammit).

Ignore this troll. The anime rules. It is the by far the best anime Gonzo ever produced. I know that doesn't mean much since Gonzo is the worst anime studio of all time, but the series actually is quite good.

Read the novel. The anime and manga are nowhere near as good.

The first half was lots of jokes and homages to lolis. The second half was plot and character development. So of course fat, digusting, pedo-otakus didn't like the critical second half.

You know I actually have the nhk novel but never got around to reading it. But yeah I thought the anime was pretty good.

if by "plot" and "character development" you mean atrociously paced and laughably overdramatic writing about pyramid schemes and MMORPGs, then sure it had plenty of that. Fortunately all of the wittier criticisms and interesting character development occurred in the first half. Second half just threw everything the first 12-some episodes established out the window in favor misplaced melodrama. There wasn't any more criticism there that hadn't already been present from the start.
But if you dig terrible drama then sure, NHK is great.
I agree that it's the best work of Gonzo's I've seen, but that isn't saying much. I haven't seen Gankutsuou, though.
