Lilith and the MP Evas' "Fusion"
One of the reasons End of Eva has a reputation for being a mind screw is the sheer amount of stuff that takes place without the mechanics behind it being made clear for the audience, and a lot of that centres around Lilith. Perhaps the most bizarre of these is the way the MP Evas begin to morph into...

Re: NGE2: First Ancestral Race and Seeds of Life
Thing is, none of the Angels are referred to as clones of Adam, while the Evas are. A clone has a specific definition, and that is a perfect genetic copy of an existing organism. There are, as best I can tell, 3 ways to reconcile this other than "Adam and Lilith had tons of unused genetic mater...

Re: NGE2: First Ancestral Race and Seeds of Life
I've wondered about the exact logic of putting Adam into stasis instead of something that would have actually made sense, like, well, giving one of the Seeds a chance to get off the planet. What's the point of wasting one of a mere seven Seeds for billions upon billions of years? What's the end gam...

Re: NGE2: First Ancestral Race and Seeds of Life
I think Reichu has the right answer by pointing out we only see Lilin reduced to LCL when an Anti-AT Field is involved. My guess is that it's the AATF causing the AT-Field to suddenly and violently collapse that's responsible for the phenomenon. Kind of like how glass can bear a lot of pressure if i...

Re: NGE2: First Ancestral Race and Seeds of Life
To be fair I don't think there was much of a window for that to happen. Adam got put into stasis when Lilith showed up, then it and the White Moon exploded right after waking up. The Spear spent 15 years lost in the sea, a couple months in Nerv's basement, then got chucked to the moon before Kaworu...

Re: Who else...
Isn't "Rebuild" the name of the project as a whole? I remember seeing pictures of the staff with a "Rebuild" t-shirt. My understanding is that Rebuild does refer to the project, but only became the name for it because of fandom adoption. Prior to that it was just a descriptor. @...

Re: Evangelion Soundtrack Is So Good?!?!?!
Sagisu just makes the music. For both Eva and Shin Godzilla, Anno's the one who decides what will show up. In NGE, there were plenty of original cues that went unused, whereas both of the times Anno requested additional music, we ended up with a lot of extra variants, some of which we know he speci...

Kinda hilarious you'd post this now given I just made this thread. #shamelessselfpromotion
All in all I like the Magitech approach Evangelion took with the stuff, even preferring it over the character psychology in some ways. Rebuild seems to lean more heavily on mysticism though.

Re: Favorite crazy Evangelion theories
The only way I could see someone writing that is if they say Shinji is having mental episodes and drawing it out on paper in the presence of his friends Rei (Could be his sister depending on your view point) Asuka, Kaworu, Toji, Hikari and Kensuke and there all playing out the roles to help him get...

Re: Favorite crazy Evangelion theories
Suddenly I'm reminded of that really lame Buffy episode called Normal Again which totally undermined the whole series by saying Buffy is in reality some one in a mental wards padded room living out the adventures in her head meaning that all the people she helped were never helped all the people sh...

Re: NGE2: First Ancestral Race and Seeds of Life
So, if I've understood correctly, the solution the Third Seed proposes to Adam and Lilith being unable to coexist is "why don't you just go set up shop on another planet". That's... actually a pretty reasonable idea that I'm surprised was never presented as an option before. Also, the whol...

Re: Favorite crazy Evangelion theories
Somebody suggested to me the bizarre theory that all the scenes with the Evas and Angels are metaphors in-universe and don't actually happen; they're just a dramatized version of Shinji's own mental struggles. This apparently also extends to both versions of Instrumentality. Said theory came from th...

Re: Mark .09, Adams Vessel, Unit 13, and the stolen AAA WUNDER
Hmm; so Reichu reckons Eva-01 and Eva-13 are now "complementary"... And Kaworu went from being the first to the thirteenth angel... Is there a pattern forming here, I wonder? Consider for a moment the Japanese word used for the Angels translates as "Apostles", and in Rebuild the...

Re: What do you think Shinji would enjoy learning to cook?
All I can picture when I see Shinji in the kitchen is him saying "I mustn't burn the soup" over and over again ad nausiem. Thing is, I don't think Shinji WOULD enjoy cooking, or at least he'd never admit to it. We're talking about a kid who can't even take a compliment about his cello skil...

Re: Evangelion Soundtrack Is So Good?!?!?!
Shirk Sagisu really is fantastic at musical composition, to the point even the most ropey scenes can be carried by his music. Almost like Yasushi Ishii's score for GONZO's Hellsing anime or Matsuo Hayato's Transformers: Micron Legend, though not as severe as either of those two. My only gripe is he ...

Re: Mark .09, Adams Vessel, Unit 13, and the stolen AAA WUNDER
The 12th Angel was sloshing around in Lilith's LCL as it visibly got bigger, and it also took on the form of a giant Rei head -- implying, without being TOO obvious about it, that Lilith was absorbed. If so, this means that Eva-13 is now the closest thing to Lilith's body. As Eva-01's doppeldanger,...

(Accidental) Gnostic Parallels in Evangelion
Most people will recognize a lot of the references in Evangelion as being Judeo-Christian in origin, but there's far more there than that. There are of course tons of scientific references (some of which are maddeningly far off the mark, but that's a topic for another thread), but also other spiritu...

Re: So was Ritsuko REALLY off her rockers in EOE?
It's not uncommon for democratic systems to have different "standards" based on the nature of what's being discussed. I'll use Canadian parliament as an example - to pass a budget or other Normal bill, a regular 50% +1 is sufficient, but for something like amending the Charter of Rights an...

Re: Mark .09, Adams Vessel, Unit 13, and the stolen AAA WUNDER
The reason I find it confusing is because Reichu is right - the name really does imply Mark.09 was made from the core of one of the Adams. If the ship already belonged to the Adams, that just calls into question what powered the ship originally and why that wouldn't count as its "original maste...
