Kids aren't made of glass. I'm sure he'll be fine. I suffered my share of injuries when I was a kid and I turned out alright; a few shameful memories here and there but I'm hardly traumatized.

^ You have the average lifespan of 120 ahead of you, now. You aren't even downhill, yet. You're barely uphill! This might just be me personally, but I don't really want to live much past 80. Even if medical technology improves, it's going to have to improve a lot for me to linger ar...

If other iconic giant monsters includes creatures like Hedorah, King Ghidorah, Destoroyah and Mechagodzilla then I'm stoked. Even if it doesn't, I'm still stoked. Bring on the kaiju eiga renaissance.

Finished Avatar: The Last Airbender. The series is really good but I feel like it suffered a bit from filler at times but everything else (the writing, the characters, the animation, the art design, the voice acting) was all top-notch.

I think I need to start seeing a therapist. My issues are starting to get to the point where they're affecting my overall quality of life again. Usually I can power through, but I'm having trouble doing that nowadays and I don't want to wait before things get really bad to take the plung...

Dark City is basically a movie version of a 3way between The Matrix, The Truman Show and Hellraiser. Deserves more attention.

I knew I recognized that screenshot.

You could have used Mr. Hand though, yes?

The original Mad Max . It's a very raw movie both to its advantage and its detriment and while I can't say I totally enjoyed it, I appreciate what Miller was able to do given the budget he had and what the movie started in terms of the franchise. So while it doesn't really hold up compar...

Some of the earlier staff of the forum felt it was not a good idea to have an off-topic area at all , as I understand. Can you then be surprised if they take into account, to some extent, the contributions of those who actively contribute to the subject of the forum? Oh man, this again. I thought w...

For the record, Fireball's ban was rescinded the same day, and Squigsquasher's was soon after. Squigsquasher's current permaban was instated later after a different set of events. Nobody here is arguing that Squiqsquasher's recent permaban was undeserved (and I'm surprised h...

Posting to reaffirm that I'm alive. Have been in Japan since late August, the first 3 weeks in Yokkaichi in Mie Prefecture and Kyoto, and Tokyo since September 11. Have settled into my classes at Waseda and life with my Host Family and friends here. Here are two pictures of Gion in Kyoto and Sh...

We have two outspoken factions constantly butting heads on all manner of sociopolitical issues, and while both are indeed getting quite tiresome the /pol/-ish side is very clearly more disruptive in the way they go about things. It's not just what people say but also how, and on this second cri...

It's also possible to do a good job and discover the same thing. The point is not discovering it: it's inherent in the system. The point is not letting it become an obstacle towards doing anything. As you say, we are powerless to implement any changes ourselves, but the point is to raise so...

You make it sound as if consistency is easy - it isn't, especially if you are trying to steer a middle course. It's much easier to appear consistent if you don't make extensive use of temp bans, for instance. If after a set number of warnings you are permanently gone, that looks much mo...

Putting a bong and a lava lamp with Sahaquiel in the same picture is a stroke of genius. It always looked like something some animator would come up with while stoned out of their mind.

Had to pay $250 for a test to officially get into graduate school that won't teach me anything and won't impact my life in any way except to take up more of my time. And after this year, my program might not even require this test anymore. Joy.

The Getaway starring Steve McQueen. It's a early 70s Sam Peckinpah that's a little slowly paced but has great photography and memorable characters that's hampered a bit by some bad acting here and there. Still the action scenes (a Peckinpah trademark) are first-class and help el...

What's he really got to lose anyways? A large segment of the population has already demonized him and the rest have moved on from yesterday's news, so this may just be a misguided attempt at getting back at all the people who have had it in for him the past few years. I don't feel like I...
