I finally finished writing my review of Liminal States after a couple false starts. I guess it's easier to write reviews on things after getting a little bit of retrospective time on them. Maybe it's because it gives me time to digest some of the key points of the story. Sure makes it hard t...

Overheard on the dinner table, dork nephew complaining about animu in Star/ESPN's Game program, about a game being developed by Ghibli and Studio5: "Instead of kick-ass shooter action, I hate this anime crap." This is why I keep animu and idol stuff hidden away from idiot dorks like h...

My experiences with Nemo were terrible. We willingly went on his submarine, and even willingly joined in on some of his scientific experiments, but when it became clear that he'd rather kill us all than let us leave that's when everything went downhill. It was a harrowing escape, and althoug...

This is pretty cool. Makes me want to reread my Norton Critical Edition of the Shakespeare play, lol. I'd find it amusing if they did give him a nice burial ceremony, considering the man's reputation. Kind of hard to give honors to a suspected child murderer, let alone a suspected murderer ...

This is something i don't write much about in here, but it's something that has been bothering me throughout my life. There's nothing to worry about as long as you keep fighting the anxiety, either through medication or will-power. I went through a bad period a few years back where I ha...

Hah, I just remembered this is relevant I guess! Hidamari Sketch / Wiz Khalifa I don't like Wiz Khalifa, and I found this song before I started watching anime, but for some reason I love it. On a related note, how is the anime for Hidamari Sketch? Just about all of nakinyko's mashups are am...

I've heard the arguments that legalizing drunk driving actually makes it safer because then the drunkard won't try to keep their speed up to hide the fact that they're drunk. I'll be interested to see how it pans out. The comedy option is to add a walled-off drunk driving lane on op...

Edit: I'm going to throw out an idea for a radical choice... how about Quentin Tarantino? He's great with directing dialogue and action, both of which there should be quality in spades in a Star Wars movie (dialogue especially after those god awful prequels). Furthermore he's a ...

That's only because you bought a haaaaaardcover like an old fogey.

Modern, sophisticated readers hate the book because it wasn't simultaneously released as an ebook.

CDProjekt released the first trailer for their new game, Cyberpunk 2077. I want it. The Psycho Squad specializes in combating "psychos" -- individuals who overuse implants and substances that boost or otherwise alter the human body. There comes a point when they overdose on these innovati...

I picked up Frank Zappa's Weasels Ripped My Flesh a couple of days ago. I'm still trying to figure out the more avant-garde tracks on the album, but for the most part the experimental bits on the album seem to be playing around with rhythm and instrumentation rather than melody.

The biggest selling point of consoles over PC's is that you buy a console and that's it, you're done. You don't have to worry about upgrading it, you don't have to worry about tinkering with the software, you don't have to worry about replacing a part or fixing it if it brea...

Came out with some interesting stuff. Among the highlights: - In Memoriam - Woodrow Wilson. A collection of memorial speeche...

Steambox sounds interesting. Apparently that's not the only piece of hardware they're working on, too. Just curious how they'll get around the fact that many games don't run on Linux (or is that not true?). It is Valve, though, so I'm sure Gabe could leverage enough weig...
