I wrote a story about 4 years ago that I'm still on speaking terms with. I wish I had more time and focus to write more. The Universe is frightening in its own intricacies on a scale larger than few minds can imagine. Yet even in that whirling madness of this vast abyss, there are similar intric...

So, here's what's been reported so far after watching the Boston Police news conference a few minutes ago. Two bombs exploded within 15 seconds of one another. The first explosion occurred near the finish line, near the VIP stands. Coincidentally families from Newtown were attending the even...

I added a short post about a story in this May's issue of Analog magazine (a sci-fi publication for those of you unfamiliar with the genre) by Martin L. Shoemaker. It's called "Not Close Enough" and it's full of national stereotypes and nationalism. Bleeeeeh.

I was accepted into my first choice school without a TA scholarship. :irked: Probably going to take out student loans to go there and hope I can land some extra funding so I'm not as deeply into debt by the time I'm done. What's more annoying is parents saying I've wasted this last y...

Also, has anyone here read Crimson Labyrinth? It's the only translated novel from the author of Shinsekai Yori but I don't know how the translation holds up and judging by the original publication date (1999) it seems to be a ripoff of Battle Royale (published earlier in the sam...

I finally reviewed Man Against the Future . It turns out the reason I ended up disliking the book so much was because there was a story that was so terrible I'd managed to obliterate it from my memory before I could be forced to live a lifetime with its memory. Too bad I accidentally uncovered i...

Huh. You got waaay more out of Mrs. Todd's Shortcut than I did. Not really, it's just a neat little road story. It seems like Kentucky Route Zero is sort of shaping up the same way - it's a story about roads and the chance encounters that you make along them. Which is why I mentioned th...

To quote my steam recommendation of Kentucky Route Zero: It's a nice mix of a visual novel and a point and click detective game. The story is somewhat reminiscent of Stephen King's "Mrs Todd's Shortcut". Actually, come to think of it, it just feels like Stephen King's ameri...
