The Fountain is SOOOOOOOOO much better (it was Aronofsky's next film). Ugh, idk. I am INCREDIBLY torn between the two films. Since I find them about on par, it's safe to assume that you are probably correct about The Fountain being better, since I am naturally attracted to dark, vis...

For films of the decade, 3 that immediately popped in my head that haven't been listed were: Hero - amazing story structure, fantastic visuals, fantastic performances, great love story Requiem for a Dream - What can I say? Extremely powerful movie, will make you terrified of refrigerators, Wall-...

It's prequel so you don't need to watch anything from the series necessarily, really @Jessemon: you don't really need to know anything about Rurouni Kenshin to dig Trust & Betrayal . Damnit. So I've essentially put it off for over a year for nothing >_> Guess I should have done ...

The first Rurouni Kenshin OVA ( Tsuiokuhen , a.k.a. Samurai X: Trust & Betrayal ) is fantastic, although the TV series is vastly inferior to the (flawed, but great) manga. Death Note is also a ton of fun, but due to the truncated second arc the anime is, again, very much inferio...

This is one of those anime that gave rise to sharply divided opinions. It seems people either love it or hate it. It is easier to view it as what it is -- bishoujo sci-fi horror with sex, violence and gore -- now compared to what it was first aired, when it shocked so many and generated a lot of co...

Seriously, what was there to like about There Will Be Blood? I don't get it. I call upon the collective filmnerd posse to explain this bullshit. Or why the Social Network was any good, while you're at it. Same problem, really... decent acting but lame plot, I couldn't give less of a shi...

Hahaha. Well I plan on watching it anyways, but I guess I'll roll a die to see which to do first.

I guess the smae can be said about Eva, most of the other Gundams are pretty much about mobile suits. Agreed, though I think there are a couple notable exceptions that I've seen. Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team is a personal fav of mine, though I wouldn't necessarily call the show grea...

The series is much better than the Oshii masturbation fest that is the films. Hmm, I'll give it a shot then. After reading the recommendations thread, I've decided to watch Elfen Lied first (it's always been on the peripheral of my anime consciousness, but everyone here seems to lov...

A variation upon the theme of NGE is how I'd put it -- and I'm waiting for it to be complete before going any further. If anyone else were doing it, the storyline in 2.x would be called yet another fanfic. On the plus side, the Ramiel battle in 1.x showed the benefit of advances in technolo...

Doubt isn't a Bourgeoisploitation Movie at all. I'd recommend it actually, it was a pretty good religious drama. What is a Bourgeoisploitation Movie, you ask? The following may help constitute it: 1. It is a historical drama. Extra points if it is a biopic or an adaptation of Shakespeare. Ev...

I did see Char's Counterattack and it was basically Vietnam in space, but Gundam has to be unrealistic real robot show I had seen so far. Its entertaining but Tomino sure loves his kill 'em all just look at Ideon:Be Invoked, a kid got his head decapitated by a fire extingusher when the Ideo...

So, what IS Rebuild anyways?

I'm looking for a slightly more in-depth answer than simply, "it's a remake of NGE." For example, are the characters different in any way? Are there any major thematic changes so far? Is this just a better produced version of NGE? Just from perusing this forum, it seems to me like ...

I havn't watched a wholelot of mecha anime (or anime in general tbh), but out of what I HAVE watched, I really liked Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket a LOT. It's only a six episode OVA, but it was really well done. It's much more character driven than most Gundam animes...

L from Death Note working for NERV would be interesting, and Spike from Cowboy Bebop and Kaji would be a duo of awesomeness. If you combined Spike and Kaji, I'm pretty sure you would break NGE. They would bed all the women (including Hikari and Asuka) and kill all the Angels themselves ...

The 90's CN was the best. Dexter's Lab, Johnny Bravo, Cow and Chicken... awesome... And I hate to admit, but I don't watch that much of Toonami, but it was better than what Kids WB showed. Too bad it ended. ... WHY DOES THE NEW CN HAVE TO USE LIVE-ACTION?! I mean, if the channel's a...

As emotional as I can get... I never get tears from seeing and hearing this. What I do get from this scene is a WTF face. Why don't I get tears? Because it's all, you guess it, MAKE BELIEVE. Now, if it were based on actual events (unless 2015 comes around), I'd get a tear or two...

I actually watched Adaptation finally (even though my family has owned the DVD for several years).

Great movie, very meta, and a LITTLE pretentious (but hey, that's to be expected with Charlie Kaufman). Nick Cage gives TWO brilliant performances!!
