Re: Shane Black & Fred Dekker to make PREDATOR Sequel
Wait the kid blows up some bully's house? This reminds me of something in South Park when Eric Cartman ruins the bullies life like has his parents fed to him but this works because we know Cartman is an asshole that's the role he plays...but to have a kid with autism do the same as you say not only...

Re: Current view of the Rebuild series and last movie expectations
Ack! I didn't get the notice that there were new posts. However, isn't it understandable that people have a hard time to disconnect these new movies from the original show? After all the first movie was basically just an animation update. Yeah, I didn't say it wasn't understandable. That ...

^The only thing I've read of theirs is Monster Musume and they did a pretty good job with that. My only real complaint with it is that Rachnera makes too many spider puns.

Re: Evangelion ANIMA (general)
Wow, what a wonderful surprise!
I am surprised that Seven Seas licensed it instead of Dark Horse.

Re: Personal Status After Rebuild
There's plenty of self-sacrifice in his other works, especially Gunbuster. If anything it's the 'death equals redemption' trope or the idea that killing yourself is a workable solution to your problems that he's against. Kaworu tried to fix a problem he himself caused by dying, but he didn't fix any...

Re: Shane Black & Fred Dekker to make PREDATOR Sequel
I made it to the extended argument about whether or not that guy said something about Olivia Munn's pussy and checked out. Christ almighty, what a total dumpster fire this movie is. Also what the hell was with the kid just blowing up the bully and his house and getting away with it? The token ev...

Re: Current view of the Rebuild series and last movie expectations
Well, if they weren't real before, they are now! And sometimes it takes me like three hours to write a post because I keep editing on the fly. Yikes. Anyway, my thoughts on the movies. On their own I find them rather straightforward and not that hard to understand, particularly in regards to t...

@Blue Basilisk: link to said dusted off thread please? This one here: post/877924/Mark-09-Adams-Vessel-Unit-13-and-the-stolen-AAA-WUNDER/#877924 @Reichu I see. It really is strange that the show never really went anywhere with the AI concept when we had stuff like Ireul or the MAGI who acted as the...

Re: Current view of the Rebuild series and last movie expectations
The focus is solely on Shinji this time round, so there's more development of him, but less of other characters. And lore and background is reduced simply because the running time is so much less. But I will reiterate what I've said in other threads - comparing the new films directly with the old s...

Re: Evangelion ANIMA (general)
Ah. Well, drat. Well, hopefully it doesn't get caught in production hell and we eventually get the whole thing. Thanks for the info!

Re: Lilith and Yui's Contact Experiment, and Related Subjects
The only way it makes sense to me is if Rei I came into being with Lilith's soul already anchored inside. If the recovery operation was similar to the one performed on Shinji in episode 20, I'm assuming that whatever was left of Yui's physical form was floating around in Unit 01's plug. Somehow Lili...

Re: Lilith and Yui's Contact Experiment, and Related Subjects
Maybe the experiment was to reach out to Lilith through Unit 01 and convince her to open her chamber to give them some souls for their Evas, and they discovered she didn't have any left to give besides her own? Would they have any reason to suspect Lilith was tapped out prior to this? Unless I'm for...

Re: Evangelion ANIMA (general)
Did the last collected volume finish up the story of the series, or is there still more to go? We haven't had news in months so I was curious.

Re: Personal Status After Rebuild
^Right! It's also very important to remember that as much as we sympathize with, relate to, or self-insert as Shinji, we are not him and he is not us. The stuff that happens to him and the others, good or bad, is all in service of the story being told. It's not Anno taking some potshot at you for li...

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now
I just finished up Space Battleship Yamato 2199! Never seen anything in this franchise before but it was amazing ! I couldn't stop watching until the end. ^_^ I'm gonna wait until 2202 is finished before jumping into that. I watched the first episode and it looked...kinda cheap compared to 2199. The...

Re: Misato's backstory and the second impact
Aren't you forgetting something? ...actually, I did. -o-; I forgot that the subject came up that early. But yeah, that's what I was talking about. Adam waking up is strongly implied to be the result of the Contact Experiment itself, yes. Looking at other Impacts in the series, both actual a...

Re: Misato's backstory and the second impact
^Right, but the series points out that that's the case in Instrumentality. There's the you that exists in the minds of others because of how they perceive you and the you that exists in your own mind as your self image. They're both valid interpretations but they're each just part of the whole pictu...

Re: Misato's backstory and the second impact
^Dr. Katsuragi sounds a lot like Gendo. Gendo's not the sort of person you'd characterize as a coward but he buried himself in his work after Yui died and pushed Shinji away because he was afraid of him and of causing the boy even more pain. Misato starts to become like that herself after Kaji dies....
