Re: Unit-00's eye(s)

According to the Eva 00 Soul of Chogokin figure, it doesn't have any eyes at all.

Re: Evangelion ANIMA (general)

Yamashita seems to be leaning in a trinity shipping direction with Anima: Shinji/Rei/Asuka together. Both girls seem to be interested in Shinji, Shinji seems to be interested in both of them and there's some stuff between Asuka and Rei 3 that comes off as surprisingly flirty. It was more explicit in...

Re: Evangelion ANIMA (general)

I buy mine digitally through BookWalker's global store and they're on Kindle too. I would have bought physical copies but I already own the Japanese books digitally and in paperback since I never imagined they'd get translated. Didn't want to quadruple dip!

Re: Evangelion ANIMA (general)

Thank you so much for answering my questions BlueBasilisk but I have to ask you some more because I am very curious and there is still something I have not fully understood: After Asuka / Eva give life to the new eva thanks the data that she absorbed from the Ark at the end of the story Shinji and ...

Re: Evangelion ANIMA (general)

The blue-haired alien chick looks very similar to Rei, too. Rei doesn't have long hair in Anima, but lop it off and... What happens in Anima isn't a time loop, as the flow of time constantly moves forward, but it's not not really reincarnation either. When Armaros destroys the world and creates the ...

Re: Evangelion ANIMA (general)

FXArmaros98, you might wanna edit your spoiler tag. The spoiler's on the outside! What's this revelation about Armaros? I haven't read ANIMA, but i would not mind the spoilers To go a bit more in-depth with with FXArmaros98 said Armaros is the Shinji and the Eva 01 from a previous incarnati...

Re: Evangelion ANIMA (general)

I already knew about it from previous translations of parts of volume 5/Part 3, so I wasn't surprised when it came up. It's a fascinating idea that I don't feel is well developed in any meaningful way, particularly how the relevant characters react to it. There are a lot of moral implications it rai...

Re: Evangelion ANIMA (general)

Yamashita's writing is a very inconsistent, messy soup of unpolished ideas and even after four volumes I still don't feel like it's managed to find its legs as a story. I'll give him credit, his re-write of part 1 for the digest version is vastly superior to what I've read of the original chapters b...

Re: Kawoshin Symbolism

Ditto. "Evil Kaworu" has never held any ground in my opinion for a lot of reasons but a key one, and this is just me speaking, but from a purely emotional and storytelling standpoint, Kaworu sneakily manipulating Shinji in some grand chess game for larger plot purposes is so boring . It's...

Re: DSS Choker Reveal [split]

If the purpose if the chokers is to prevent impacts, then that's all kind of made useless by the fact that the requirement for a pilot to be present in the Eva to initiate an impact could easily be circumvented by Seele or Gendo just equipping an Eva with a Dummy System and having it cause one that...

Re: You Never See Anything Just Once - NTE Edition

^ Man, that's a pretty big misunderstanding by Shinji in 3.0, he thinks she hates him for destroying the world that he may have not even destroyed in the first place Well, that's not so much as misunderstanding as Kaworu mislead him and told him that's what happened. That parallel you pointed out h...

Re: You Never See Anything Just Once - NTE Edition

First up is a brief sequence toward the end of Ha where Misato and Eva-01 are weirdly... coordinated, in terms of how these shots are framed, down to the way they move left to right within the frame on each iteration. The fact that Misato's shots are desaturated also disguises this a bit, but the t...

Re: How come there hasn't been any sort of introspection in the Rebuilds?

According to the notes for the doll, it's a treasured childhood keepsake and the only friend she had as a little kid, which is why she talks to it. tbh the only thing I can think of for rebuild is that they changed the traumatic defining moment for Asuka.... Essentially instead of a mama complex she...

It does. Watch very closely as that shot of the Moon pans down and you can see that it's moving across the horizon very very quickly.

Re: The Mystery of the Second Cross in 3.0

^ That's been considered in the past. The biggest issue with the idea is that Fuyutsuki tells us that the Rei Ayanami Shinji knows (meaning Rei II specifically) is still safely stored "within the system" of Unit 01 per Gendo's plans and he's the best authority we have on the matter at pres...
