Kill la Kill has somehow found its way onto Toonami, so I'm giving it the old college try. Actually I'm quite enjoying it so far. High hopes for this one.

That's because typically, the anime adapts the manga and there is adaptation decay going in that direction. NGE, and a few other cases, where the two are part of the same project (e.g. Utena), get to be exceptions to the rule by the anime not being an adaptation as such. That's what...

That was just a cross-promotional stunt for a video game. If the Dual Saw is all you care about, get a copy of NGE2 and have the deep satisfaction of using it with (almost) any Eva on any Angel. (I really thought the Dual Saw was dumb, until I got to see it in action. Pity there's n...

The manga has a massive double-bladed chainsaw. That's good enough for me.

While the music undoubtedly adds to the work as a whole, I don't think the narrative would have particularly suffered from a lack of it.

So it's a weak yes from me. Still, it's hard to think about NGE without Cruel Angel's Thesis playing in the back of my mind.

Had quite an interesting one last night... I dreamed that I was playing Shadow of the Colossus, except I was climbing Unit 01. It was annoying as piss because there wasn't a soft spot for me to stab. For some reason it didn't just grab me and send me flying, but I ultimately ran out of grip ...

Black 3DS XL. Too bad it didn't come in see-through plastic like certain 2DS models. Brings back memories of my old see-through purple Gameboy Color.

So not only does Staryu have a spherical red core, but it's also been observed deploying forcefield-like defensive barriers. In fact, dozens if not hundreds of other Pokemon have been known to use this exact same forcefield, or ones very similar to it.

How could we have been so blind...

I've introduced three friends to NGE, and none of them got even halfway through it. The consensus seems to be that Shinji is a "whiny little emo expletive," which makes me shake my head and sigh everytime I hear it, but there it is. While I disagree with their sentiment, I can see wher...

Diamond/Pearl wasn't my cup of tea, but Heartgold/Soulsilver will probably continue to be my favorite Pokemon game until another Gen 2 remake comes out, about fifteen years from now. It was sooooo good. Though I did wish I at least had the option to make my lead pokemon stop following me and get...

Er... Really? Because that's exactly how I've felt playing X and Y. Makes me wonder what I'm in for if I ever get to Gen 4. Well... I managed to enjoy Gen 4, but it was easily my least favorite. I know a lot of people feel differently, but it felt like a major letdown to me.

Fanart, video clips, wikis, all that jazz. I'm pretty lousy about spoiling things for myself. I do kinda like the head design, though. It's a shame about Provisional Unit 05. I fell in love with its wonkiness immediately.

Mari is a bit, well, distracting. Or at least that's how she seems to me, but I've only watched the first two Rebuilds so far. Maybe it's the pink Eva. Maybe I'm just worried there aren't enough bananas for another monkey. Or maybe I'm just intimidated by women with glasses b...

Coincidentally, a friend of mine who just got White 2 convinced me to play along with him on my old copy of Black 1. Though there are a few key differences between the two versions, we've managed to keep our playthroughs roughly concurrent. Since I never touch grass types, I decided to switch th...

NGE is easily my favorite, though I've spent far more time with Macross, DBZ, and Gundam over the course of my life. Not just because there's way more episodes, but because they fit my baser moods. NGE is the fine 30-year brandy I keep at the top of my shelf, which I might pour a glass of wh...
