Iv'e seen FLCL several times, and i don't recall anything of it that would be mess worthy. if anything, i'd say it's one of my favorites

EVA similarity aside, what other reasons could there be for naming this film Shin?

Maybe they could make something longer with a story-line more like the manga. That would be interesting wouldn't it?

If we are going with the Rei=Lilith theory, then I believe that Lilith's head took Rei's shape because that's the form she has in 01's core. It would also somewhat explain why the FoI are shaped like 01, it is the vessel that currently carries Lilith

Having seen Q multiple times, and comparing its events with those of the two movie prior, I can safely say that Anno and co. know EXACTLY what they are doing. The relationship between Shinji and Misato I consider to be the prime example of this
