Well, It would seem that the similer shots I mentioned before (and Reichu so kindly posted) were coincedence after all. In the Appedixes sections of The Two Towers extended DVD it is clearly stated that the scene in question was based on an older painting by Alan Lee or something. Still, eve...

I've been reading these boards now for a while and this is my first time posting. I've noticed something that I thought would be relevant to this thread. There's a shot in LOTR : The Two Towers that greatly resembles a shot from episode 24 of Evangelion. If you have The Two Towers theatr...

If he didn't want it to be a parody, it shouldn't have encompassed so many dad-gum cliches. (Watch it with Stuffman in the room to see what I mean.) I was thinking the same thing when I read that. Oh well, I dig on Gunbuster no matter what the frack it's sopposed to be. Probably...

Someone back yonder on the first page mentioned that Gunbuster should be viewed as a parody anime. I remember reading somewhere that Anno didn't want Gunbuster viewed as a parody. I can't remember where, though.

i'm saying they could have inserted a scene earlier in the movie, then shortened the scene with Shinji holding kaoru. i'm sure if that scene was long just for budget reasons they wouldn't leave it in just for the timing of the music. they most likely could have easily found a way to mak...

Heck, he never bothered with a remake of the infamous "recap" episode made up almost entirely of recycled footage and screen text...while I obviously can't confirm it, my gut feeling tells me that that episode wasn't part of his original plan, but in it went and in it stayed. Whil...

The time spent on the plot could have been longer if they'd pruned a couple of angels. This is much like what Sadamoto did with his manga adaption. Just out of curiousity, do you think the manga is better structured than the anime because it ditches a few of the Angels in lue of a few more char...

the main faults I have with it are the "budget" sequences (Rei/Asuka elevator scene, Kaworu in Unit-01's hand) Those scenes aren't that way for budgetary concerns, they are like that for dramatic effect. TV episodes 25 & 26 can be blamed on budget and bad planning yes,...

Its consistantly great, unlike Eva which had its low points. The ending is also brilliantly done. I tend to disagree with you on that. I didn't like the first couple parts of Gunbuster at all untill the second half of the story drew me in. And the ending just clinches it. On the other hand, I t...

Anno was the director, among other positions, of Gunbuster. Are you sure you aren't confusing Aim for the Top with Aim for the Top 2, which is directed by Kazuya Tsurumaki (director of FLCL)? I was just coming back to correct myself after having watched the opening credits. http://evage...

Actually, Aim For The Top! Gunbuster wasn't one of Anno's projects. He was just a staff member on it. The writer/director for that title was someone else in GAINAX (can't remember who).

I had to go with Evangelion.

I've only seen Gunbuster once and I ended up loving it, but it's hard for me to vote for anything over good old EVA.

Quick 'n' easy way to suck up all of the aliens headed to obliterate life on Earth (since, you know, that's what aliens do...). What I want to know is, how the hell did they get Jupiter in there? So they actualy had the planet Jupiter in there? http://evageeks.org/ANF-Archive/im...
