Rewatched Princess Mononoke (slowly making my way thru Miyazaki’s material) last night, partly due to responses to Jimbo etc. I still vastly prefer Laputa, but I think my reasoning’s changed. Mononoke’s a more mature work superficially—what with all the violence and tentacle rape and weird ...

The Fugitive [U.S., Andrew Davis, 1993, 130 minutes] 10/10 Yeah, that's a great one. Riveting from beginning to end; truly as exciting as cinematic drama can get. I saw it long before I was giving ratings but I'd probably give it an 8.5. My fascination with Fugitive , and maybe the reason w...

It seems like that a lot of fans want LAEM to be doing what Rebuild has been doing so far. That either shows in stubbornly naive they are about LAEM, ("I want it to be like THAT!" *point* "But at the same time NOT like that...") or it just means that Rebuild is about the...

Uh, The Fugitive lost Best Picture to Schindler's List. It was nominated but that was Spielberg's year with Schindler taking most of the top awards and Jurassic Park sweeping the visual effects awards. It did win Best Supporting Actor for Tommy Lee Jones. Great film though. Whoops! You'...

I hear remarks like "I didn't care for EOE" and "Let's Americanize it" makes me think the damn thing will turn out like this dork's fancast. [url]http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/MovieTheaterLad/news/?a=14145 Haha! :pointlaugh: Seems as though everyone was &quo...

I needed to take some time away from the feature length drama I got caught writing. So I decided to sit through a butt-load of films, a pastime of which I have very uncharacteristically failed to do lately. The Fugitive [U.S., Andrew Davis, 1993, 130 minutes] 10/10 Where do I start? A man named Dr. ...

It's a shounen the same way it's a giant robot show.

So, if a show mentions a younger crowd in any way, it's MUST be target for that crowd?

Like Hounddog?

Well yes and that was bit paradoxical. On the one hand you say "stuff like this" "can and has motivated actual sexual exploitation" but on the other you say there isn't any evidence for this. Erm wtf O_o Until I see solid correlation, I remain skeptical. Same argument essent...

@ legality in question, this is just one of those gray areas. Stuff like this can and has motivated actual sexual exploitation of minors, never heard of this. :chinscratch: There should be statistically significant increase in paedophilia in Japan if lolicon hentai influenced this kind of behaviour...

According to the prosecution's documents, Handley "spent the past 17 years collecting over a thousand works of manga from Japan of a sexual nature, using images of young girls in such books as a substitute for sex. He reads as many as 35 manga books a week, and has thousands of DVDs of Jap...

Trusting that Nolan is a better filmmaker than anyone here I'm confidant the man knows what he doing and he's already aware what works for Batman would not work for Superman. Yeah, I doubt he'd copy + paste elements that worked for Batman into a Superman film. And if that's Superman...

Re: Hey, here's the latest on Christopher Nolan!

the only decent sequel was Superman II, the others sucked to varying degrees That's because it was the same director as the first film, Richard Donner; despite the studio trying to screw him over by cutting another director's footage into it and calling it his movie instead, even though les...

I don't really get some of the hate the prequel movies get. I enjoyed episode I (but was incredibly annoyed by Kid Anakin) and I really enjoyed episode II as well (my favorite moments being C-3PO and R2's scenes together, Yoda vs. Dooku, and the Colosseum scene) Those are go...
