Re: From Your Lips to the Author's Ears: Story Ideas
Because silvermoonlight challenged you to write a story . That's why we expected you to do it: you're claiming that it can be done, and you're insisting on it, so...show us. It's telling that you put it out there, act rather snidely towards us that we can't 'grasp' it, but then demonstrate that you,...

Re: FanFiction Requests/Recommendations/Discussion etc.
No that's never been done I think that would work if you made it steam punk/Victorian but in really serious, hence the Evangelions could look kind of horrible and creepy because there armour doesn't fit well enough so you see more of the alien underneath. The play on horror could be based on the ha...

Re: From Your Lips to the Author's Ears: Story Ideas
That's not a story, that's a sequence of events. Why would that be interesting?

Except there are some things where you're just asking for too much skill. I mean sure you can put mud in a stew, and you might make it work....

Re: Internet toxicity (Social media, fandom shipping, etc)
Some things never die on the Internet, and it's why you have to be so careful in what you post. It's what makes Facebook so insane to me: people have to own everything they say, and some of the things they say there are absolutely shocking. Under their own names!

Re: Internet toxicity (Social media, fandom shipping, etc)
I heard about that backlash, but I never saw it. A lot of people were kind of enthused by it, however, simply because Asami and Korra developed a chemistry no one on the writing staff had anticipated. I think more people were sold on it than not. Even afterwards, while there were definitely people w...

Re: From Your Lips to the Author's Ears: Story Ideas
Silvermoonlight speaks the truth. Take for example, merging Battle Angel Alita and Evangelion: these are two very different properties and settings, but you can merge the two together because they have some solid overlap with certain themes. The idea of what constitutes a human, the concept of self ...

Re: From Your Lips to the Author's Ears: Story Ideas
Or, if you're going to make a batshit suggestion for a crossover, explain WHY the crossover would exist. Why would you crossover Evangelion with Fritz the Cat? Like, what about that crossover pops up in your mind as something that can be done? Give a reason for why, and if it boils down to, "I ...

Because they're just noise. And you know that: you said it yourself, you're just throwing stuff at the wall, because you don't know what else to say. If you don't have any good fanfiction ideas, you don't NEED to post in the fanfic ideas page. Every time you post, we get an alert that there's someth...

Life's too short for that. Why would anyone want to waste time on such frustrations? I can't remember who it was, but someone threw some Asuka/Rei stories my way: I don't ship the two of them, but the stories were cute, and funny. I can appreciate that! Or, you know...say a ship I prefer doesn't pan...

People take a weird...possessiveness of these characters, and any deviation from that possession is threatening. It's almost like they treat the characters as extensions of themselves, and any attack on that idealized concept of the character becomes a personal attack. The best example of that I can...

That must be it: I see Voltron and Stephen Universe fan-art, but it's usually not the focus of the artist's work (like, they're a member of the fandom, and they post their own fan-work, but they're primarily doing art somewhere else, so I'm only on the edge of all of it). I guess I just never got de...

Re: Internet toxicity (Social media, fandom shipping, etc)
SSD: I have a very hard time going on Facebook these days, because it seems to have become the 'unfiltered, everyone gets to know what I think' place. Which is weird, because that's no pseudonyms (unless you're a bot). Everyone sees pictures, and names, and...there's no hiding that a person said wha...

That sucks about your brother, but badass that he made it through! Jesus, how did he deglove his foot? I've heard of people marching the soles of their feet off (literally), but that's a new one!
Also, skin is all healed up, now: just tender and scarred. Back to running and rucking!

I posted this over in the Fanfic Recommendations thread. If this story hasn't been done before, maybe someone could ponder it.

...you know...watching this Lindsay Ellis video-essay on the Phantom of the Opera...I am surprised I never saw parallels between that story, and Evangelion. The character of Eric, with his reclusive, possessive, and brilliant nature (it gets underplayed over his composer abilities, but he's also a b...

Re: What would Evangelion be without Shinji?
The...emphasis on the connection between the three Pilots is kind of a cornerstone of Evangelion. Their failures to connect are what usually lead to their defeats.
