Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
Been on a Sonic binge since the second movie came out months ago (which was great). I've pretty much determined that I don't like SONIC FORCES, SONIC LOST WORLD, and the two SONIC 4 episodes after playing them first time. SONIC GENREATIONS was fantastic though. Even the 3DS version wasn't that bad. ...

Re: Akio Satsukawa Love & Pop Theatrical Booklet Interview
Well days like this make me glad I decide to check up the site again after so long. Excellent work Felipe, reminds me of how exciting it was to get an interview translated here in the old days. Lot to take in, but what stuck out was the comment about writing making you a director. A curious reveal, ...

Why not both? Can't we accept "Best And Trash Waifu?"

If one needs to ask this question, they probably haven't been paying attention to the fanbase at large in the last...25 years?

Re: My Anxiety for Evangelion
Gonzo strikes me as the only Muppet who would totally get invested into Evangelion. In all seriousness, my relationship with the anime has always been complicated. It never got as anxiety inducing as some of the other members, but there was still a lot of strong emotions felt ever since I got into t...

Re: Guillermo del Toro's Nightmare Alley (2021)
No one wanted to talk about this? Bummer. Saw both this and the original movie when they were fresh. Was happy to walk away from both happy to have taken it. Del Toro was always good about taking material he loves and adjusting them to suit his own needs, and this pretty much proves that if one want...

Re: Last Movie You Watched
RESCUE RANGERS movie somehow went against expectations and actually delivered a solid comedy. Ignore the characters' backstory and some of the poorer jokes and you get a solid buddy comedy that clearly respect the source material to the point of making sure some of the jokes actually land. Leave to ...

Re: Digimon: Digital Monsters
Thanks to a friend, I've been slowly making my way through a lot of it. Saw all of OG Adventure months ago, currently clawing my way through Zero Two. It's been an interesting experience. I don't have any childhood nostalgia, so I've been plowing through episodes with no fondness or longing for chil...

Re: What makes a good anime, by Miyazaki’s standards?
Simple: to make animation appear to be as real and emotionally open as what surrounds us, no matter how abstract or fantastical it is.
Basically the purpose on why animation exists to begin with.

Too many to count. Like Chaz, I'll just post 3 and go into it a bit. Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex's Opening . Feels like this time capsule of the hopes and ambitions the industry had about the ease of CGI. So each and every decisions on the artistic front is there to make and feel like it...

Re: Anime you loved but now hate(and other ways your tastes changed)
Never really had this happen to me. Closest I can get to answering this question is ELFEN LIED: revisiting the show as an adult is a very different experience from watching the show as a teenager. A lot of the cracks becomes way more obvious. Still have a bizarre soft spot for it. There's a great Yo...

Re: Official "Hello/Goodbye" Thread!
Ello. Against everything, I'm fine. Lot of things have happened since last I was here, lot of stuff has been watched. Felt like posting here again after years of inactivity and wanted to stroll by memory lane again. Almost comforting that posting here hasn't changed since I last posted. I'm aware wh...

In "Hell has Frozen" news: Fathom Events is showing both Frontier movies. In theaters. Here in the USA.
It's so out of left field, even I had to come back from my tombstone to post it.

I watched Marriage Story and holy shit, I loved it. It's not only the film though. I also happen to love Adam Driver. And his performance is godly. So is Scarlet Johanson's. They got me to cry. Ah yes, this was another one. Fantastic stuff, some of the best acting I've ever seen from Scarlet. My fr...

Re: Gainax President Arrested on “Semi-Compulsory Obscenity” Charges, Taking Nude Pictures of Teen Voice Actress
All this time I merely thought that Gainax was trying to get by with whatever resources they had without the creative people that made the studio happened. And by some miracle, it worked sometimes: The Mystic Archives of Dantalian is the most chill anime the studio's done, Medaka Box was getting bet...

I cared. There's some good anime that was done post-2011.
After tonight, now I question why I did that.

Re: Official "Hello/Goodbye" Thread!
The recent news of Gainax made me wake up from my yearly slumber, and I'll probably return to my slumber just as soon as I post this. At the rate the studio is going, I'll be here every Christmas. I don't have a job anymore and been pursuing a career of writing. Still watching a lot of movies. Proba...

Re: Star Wars Episode II - A New Thread
Saw Rise of Skywalker the day before it came out. Packed house, probably one of the best movie experiences I've had. I have more positive memories of that audience than I do for the movie. And this is coming from someone who thought The Last Jedi is a good movie. I feel like the Coyote having dynami...

Been watching the Illumination movies that I've never seen before to get an idea on why or how these movies get a billion dollars.
I don't think I'll ever figure it out.
